Are there any sure fire ways to make your website big?

I have a little proboards site, I won't advertise here (check out my sig for the URL), it's doing fine, well over 1000 posts in just under a month, but it's all the same people posting over and over again. Not that I dislike any of my members, I just want to reach out to more people.

Tips?

There are <meta> tags (Google for them) that will make search engines recognize your site.

The best way to get hits is word of mouth. Those top 100 sites, and submit your sites deal do not work. All they want is for you to link back to them so they get more hits. Search for site, and make friends with big site owners and get little text links and junk like that. I have a site that uses close to 5 terabytes of bandwidth a month, it took two years to get that big. We did nothing, just word of mouth.

Yah, it is ridiculous. But it makes me alot of money with adsense. I can pay for almost 10% of the OC3 bill with it. Which comes out to be about $1,300 a month. I love the site just because of that.

http://www.ragnarokbattle.com

as you can see. It is down for now. We are having some Yahoo domain problems.

And when I said "I", I mean alot of other people that help keep the fourms and all that in line. I am just the owner of the domain and the host and somewhat of a mod, I helped it from the begening, one of the founders and all that good stuff.

Since it's hosted at ProBoards, can you use Adsense on their boards?

No, it would violate both ProBoards and Googles TOS's.
