Okay long story short, my cd burner stopped working. Out of the blue just stopped showing up in my list of avaliable drives. I bought a new one and installed it correctly, but this one isnt showing up either. Does anyone have an idea as sto what's wrong? I was thinking about uninstalling windows xp pro service pack 2 and trying to install the drive then reinstalling sp2 but I'm not sure how to do that. Any help would be nice. Thanks.

What model drive?

Maybe your IDE cable isn't working? Does the drive spin up when you turn on the computer? Maybe a master/slave conflict?

I'm not a big computer geek, but you should go inside your computer and replug all of your pluggins for your CD drive, if not working either then try to reformat your computer. I think that happened to me once and I did that then it came back. But I don't know about your computer.
