In class, my assignment was to write poetry about anything. I never really had experience with poetry, so here's my first entry. It's about my best friend's relationship with her boyfriend. They're so infactuated together it's sweet, and they like lying down on the ground star-gazing. SO I decided to dedicate this to them:

The Stars are Shining Again

I catch you staring down the stars
Dreaming for this frigid winter to end
The Stars are shining again
This cold air that traps us in a frozen time
As it melts all our sorrows away
Your pale hand points to a jeweled sky
The stars are shining again
Holding hands till your tears wash away with the sea
Watching where you weep to drown in your innocence
Two hearts living under the sky of love
Where the stars are shining again
"I'll be back" you'll say
as a promise fullfilled like you do everyday
Tomorrow the stars will go away
The flowers will lay entwined in a golden day
But you'll be there waiting
Where wind's nocturne blows
Until the jeweled sky returns
The stars will shine again
Someday
