I know in school, everyone is all hyped up about how stupid political correctness is.

-I agree to a certain point, but i dont think we shouldnt be able to say "merry christmas" in school, or play songs w/ Jesus in them (ie: Silent Night)

I think its getting out of hand.

you?

when my brother was in like 6th grade his teacher wouldnt allow them to say 'white' and 'black.' they had to say 'caucasian' and 'african amrican'... who knows..

that reminds me of the politically correct snow white and the seven dorfs.. or little red riding hood.

I agree with the white and black. Saying someone is black is considered rude. And I also agree with playing songs with jesus in them being unexceptable in schools and public places, this leads to the question, how come they're ALLOWED to have a jesus radio channel!? HELLO?!?!??!?! Talk about invading my religous rights tongue.gif

Anyhow, I am totally non christian (can you tell?) and I don't see anything wrong with saying "merry christmas". At least if you celebrate it, which I do. And I don't see how you're expected to know wether someone celebrates it or not jsut by glancing at them so really they shouldn't be offended if you say merry christmas to them. Just nod a smile. I mean you have to agree with me that "season's greetings" sounds pretty lame. I'm impartial to "happy holidays" but "merry christmas" still tops my list.

and that black and white thing, i dont know about others, but i dont really care. i mean a kid called me "twinkie" (yellow on the outside= looks asian, white on the inside= american culture) but i dont really care happy.gif but it might be offending to some... to be safe i dont identify ppl (describe) with skin color

Merry Christmas was a term brought up by the Christians, but it can be used for anyone.

You're not forced to listen to that station... Denying a religious group from broadcasting would be against the law, not the opposite.

i think everyone should be able to express themselves freely
and be able to sing jesus songs or say merry christmas
what i believe is wrong is if like teachers are singingin it or something
and the pledge you have like a choice to say

I just told everyone at school that I loved them ... so that I could avoid the mistake of greeting them the wrong holiday.

Political correctness is a good thing until it starts getting in the way of what you're trying to communicate.

For example:
Calling schoolbus drivers "transporters of learners" is just going too far.

Well, I don't have much to contribute but I can't stand the label "African American." Although, I'm not exactly thrilled about being "Black," either.

I'm just a young Black man.

I'm just a young man of light ebony hue.

Well, that would be violating our freedom of speech and our religion rights.
I mean, for me as a Catholic, I guess it doesn't really matter if we say it or not, but .. you'll have to think about it politically and realistically; they're different viewpoints that would both be pretty good and arguable.

i agree, it's getting a bit out of hand. i heard people wanted to call it "holiday tree" instead of "christmas tree" which seems so absurd. sometimes i do try not to say merry christmas at school and say happy holidays instead, but i celebrate christmas so it's hard cause i'm so used to saying merry christmas.

It's getting out of hand.

Christmas is a national holiday. Why shouldn't we be allowed to say "Happy Christmas" etc. We might as well deny the existance of it and make everyone go to school/work that day. -_=x

man this politically correct stuff is bs.

they say happy holidays but you always see images of the xmas tree and presents and santa and all that.

i say merry xmas to people that i know celebrate xmas in school. and i say have a good hannukah to the Jewish people i know.

and vis a vis the black and white thing:

i call black people black and white people white all the time. o.O Nobody's come up to me and gone "i'm caucasian, dammit" or "i'm african-american, dammit" so until then..

we should call Asian people yellow people.

we don't have to... but the teachers usually encourage it. it gets annoying when you have to say african american or caucasian so many times in like a paragraph or something. they're too long mellow.gif

You shouldn't use words to offend anyone, but being politically correct all the time is a load of bs. Why can't people just accept people for who they are? If someone says Merry Christmas to you, and you celebrate something else, either say Merry Christmas back, or Happy Holidays, smile, and be on your merry way.

^^LOL, that made me giggle. XD

Political correctness to a point is a good idea but....., like when my dad says "Clean your room" I say "Gaaaay" or when my brother breaks something I say "You freaking retard".
I don't mean it to be offensive to those people, but...ehh...they'll get over it.

Hmm. Well, my dad says stuff about it every now and then, but I don't really pay attention.

But, if a person calls me white, as a insult I just say, "I'm proud of it." Then the conversation drops. I saw the political incorect version of Cindrella! Well, thats what my bro calls it. Cinderella is black prince charming is asian his parents are black and white, and the fairy god mother is black and the evil step mother and step sisters are white. huh.gif

I don't really care, unless it's over some strong point that I really care about. For the most part, I supend my life in front of the TV or computer watching cheap chick flicks ;]
