hm. At the end of last year I was 4th out of 300ish. Now, I'm probably somewhere in between 10 and 20. It sucks, because people taking CP courses can make all As and have a higher GPA than me taking IB courses and making Bs. GRRRRRRRRR!

Our school doesn't offer IB classes. But we have a remedy for your gripe. Our school is on a 5.0 GPA system. But if you get an A in an honors or AP class, that class counts as a 6.0. If you get a B, you get a 5.0, putting you on par with those who got A's in regular classes. So... there's rampant GPA inflation here as people scramble to pump up their GPAs (myself included). There's only like 523 kids in my class. Oh btw, to all you people who have a school that doesn't TELL you what your rank is... all you have to do is go to the registrar and ask to see your transcript. She might balk and tell you to fill out a request and pay a buck or something... but you can get your rank easy. Our school doesn't put ranks on report cards (they used to... but they stopped), but you get your rank once a year from your counselor when you go to register for next year's classes.

I graduated with 14/378, something like that. The truth is, 8 people have the same GPA, so instead of the top 15, it became the top 22. I was part of the 8 people at the end. ^_^;; So we all shared the 14th spot lol

Oh, there's only like 72 kids in the 8th grade at my school. So, I'm pretty much 3rd or something.

Haha..

Okay..Freshman year I was 10th. Sophomore year 9th. First semester Junior year 8th. I think I have like 600 people in my class. Maybe 630. shrug.gif

I think I would be 8th still but in our AP Lit class these three kids plaigarized and cheated on a research paper. They were 5th, 6th and 7th. Our teacher slammed them so hard, they don't even have A's anymore.

So I think I'll be 5th after this semester. :)

Lesson: Do your own damn work. :)

Man, I swear teachers at my school almost never caught on to plagiarism in AP classes.

I pulled soooo much crap back in highschool, I don't even think it's possible to name them all. Of course, I actually DID my own work, but my friends would borrow my essays and turn them in to get better grades. They never knew lol. Maybe that's why my school isn't ranked high in academics. *sigh* lazy teachers. No wonder it was so easy for people to get on the top 5% in class sweating.gif

Pss, what kids would do just to get the grade in AP...

Funny, after I went to college, since I'm attending UCSD, I didn't think anyone would cheat. I always feel like I'm surrounded by intellectuals and I'm the idiot in the class. And then I hear about people getting kicked out and stuff, which was pretty shocking. o____O;

The bad thing about my high school was that they didn't even LET the Valedictorian for my graduation year give a speech. Some annoying cheerleader gave the speech. I mean, the valedictorian at my school could've written a better speech.. *sigh*

Not to say that cheerleaders are generally annoying. Rather, the cheerleaders at MY school are annoying. sweating.gif

I don't really agree with ranking. Colleges would rather have someone who gets a B in a more challenging class than just an a in the simple classes. I take mostly the advanced/pre ap courses and some ap courses. I rank 6 out of 164. I only have a 3.8 though. :[ next year I am doing post secondary and hope to do well enough to balance my gpa to nearly 4.0 and then my senior year above so i can be up there with the top three. I used to want to be valedictorian but have read that it really isn't that important of a title, it just helps your chances of getting into the college you want.
