After spending a year and a half learning HTML and all that good stuff, I finally got a freewebs to put the skills I learned to good use. Here's my first ever official layout featuring Mr. A-Z.

Your work paid off. It's a good start. The aqua blue is a bit much, I'd either lighten it or change the hue. Also, the black is a big clash with the brightness of the background. It's pretty good. <3 but i the aquaish blue is a bit hard on the eyes against the white.

OOH. I like it but, I think the image is kind of plain. I think you should change the blue to a different color. It makes my eyes hurt.

Congrats on actually taking time to learn HTML instead of clicking around in frontpage or some other graphical editor.
 As far as the design goes, I'll have to join the chorus and say the Aqua is a bit much for a background. The image is a bit plain it might look nicer if it took up more space so that it was the same or a more similar width with the content? As far as the coding goes, aside from a few <BR> tags its nicely done. AND, it works in Safari (and for that you get an automatic A.)

are <BR> tags bad? a lot of people complain about too many <br> tags. how come?

It's not bad. like everyone else said, the banner/image is very plain, the aqua blue w/ white writing is pretty bad on the eyes, and the black does contrast the blue too much!
However, it's REALLY good for a start! ^_^ Nice job. One more thing: the "Le Femme" section should be changed to "LA femme". haha...just kicking in a bit of my french studies. Le is for masculine words ;) again...great job. and congrats on learing HTML. |

Very nice! But yes, change the blue. But apparently it's aligned in safari, so you've already gotten an A.

I agree about the aqua but for a first time it looks real good. It looks like your manually inputing your blogs so if you want comments what you can do is sign up for a free haloscan account and use that. Besides the colors being a little off I don't like the blank space above the blog. Maybe you could add extra to the banner or move the blog over to the right a little more and put it at the top next to the banner. Just a suggestion
 But I do like that you used Jason Maraz for this, gotta love him  PS: I like your avatar
