*Sigh* I just felt like telling some people.


I just got back from my orthodontist's office. There is something wrong with my jaw and I haveto get surgery on it!!

He explained that they're going to break my jaw and pull it forward.They even said that it'll take about a month to recover, and it'll hurt (duh).

I'm going to have swollen cheeks and bruises all over my face.


I'm so scared....Have you guys ever been under the knife?

Nope, I never had surgery or anything like that. I was about to when I broke my nose but my parents didn't want me to because I was too small.

im sorry! i hope you'll have a fast recovery. the worst thing i have ever had done in my mouth was a filling.and that hurt bad. my tooh cracked and it must have been cracked for a while cuz a cavity formed in the crack and i had the worst tooh ache ever. they had to remove all of the tissue,and fill it.

you know what, go to another place and ask them to check. i remember before getting my braces, i went to 7 different locations and finally chose the last one. one of them that i visit was ridiculous. they wanted to shorten my buttom jaw (i had a underbite [3rd degree]). i got scared and left.

awww...feel better...last year I had to get 7 cavities filled on halloween... sucked my face was swollen the whole day...ughh

I had surgery when I was 15... I tore my acl and they had to replace it with a part of my tendon... (I have a huge scar)..... it's not that bad.... yes you will be sore... but they'll give you stuff for it.... I have to have my wisdom teeth...not looking forward to the chipmunk cheeks.... but you'll be ok.... going under feels weird... and waking up feels like when you haven't slept for forever and you try to wake up....it takes a long time.

wow dat sux. i hate dental surgery. like dey once had to pull out my wisdom teeth when dey were barely poppin out. and they cut my gums all up and it was all bloody. they didnt even give me my teeth to put onder the pillow...

Oh god, when I got braces, that's what happened to me.
And it hurts. Just eat alot of ice cream and it'll eventually stop bleeding.

ANyway, it sounds bad, but I'm sure it'll be fine afterwards. It might hurt, but you'll probably be glad you did it in a few years.

in second grade, this small procedure where they cut out part of the skin that connects your lip to your gums.
in sixth grade, they cut into my gum and removed a tooth from the bone [knocked me out for that one, swelling and achiness for 2 days].
and soon, another small one where they're cutting out a cyst in my shoulder.

I'm sorry at this unfortunate event! Consider getting a 2nd opinion first, though.

And remember, they're just doing this for your own good. It'll hurt for a month, but it might be so they can prevent your jaw from hurting you for a lifetime.

I had appendicitis in the 8th grade. The pain before the surgery...oh my god, it's like the worst cramps you'll ever have in your life. It got to the point that when I finally went to the hospital, I couldn't even walk. At home, I had to crawl up the stairs.

But yeah, so they did the surgery thing and they found out that it had ruptured a little bit and some tissue wrapped around it or something like that. I was lucky; if the tissue hadn't done that, I probably would've been in the hospital for a month, instead of a week.

I also had to be put on antibiotics for two weeks. And they were intravenous, so I had this picc line put in my arm so it could send the medicine directly to my blood stream. It was also supposed to be easier than having it in my hand for two weeks, which it was. Surprisingly, it didn't hurt when they pulled it out.

The one unfortunate part about my whole appendicitis ordeal: it happened the week before Spring Break. So instead of missing school for two weeks, I only missed a week.
