The Last Song

Pink and white were the flowers falling from the tree in the 2nd day of spring. On the branch of the blooming tree is a brown rope that tied a swing to the tree, working as a pendulum. On that swing is a girl with blonde hair, grey eyes, and a beautiful rosy face. The giggling person pushing her was a boy with brown "sk8er boi" hair, green eyes, and such a cute loveable face. Both of them were friends until the end.

This routin occurred almost everyday. The boy and the girl would spend quality time with each other. Sometimes they would play tag in the park innocently; sometimes they would go over each other's houses just to be the children they are.

One day, in that faithful tree swing, the girl and the boy gazed at each other lovingly. It was first love for both adolescent kids and they both knew it. Together, they lay down on the soft, spring green grass as the spring breeze blew on them while the cotton candy white clouds hovered in the blue sky with eternal bliss.

Then the girl took the boys hand and grasped it tightly. She said with great and deep meaning in her eyes and childish voice, "Will you promise to be with me forever?" A wind gusted on her stray golden hair, revealing her smoothe, rosy skin.

The boy in return, held her hand as tight as she did but tried to gentle at the same time. He smiled to her lovingly with sincere eyes and stared at her with great admiration and careness. "I promise. Forever and Ever." The girl's cheeks blushed from the oath and leaned closer to him as they cuddled as small children on that grassy slope. A pink Cameilla with delicate and fragile petals, floated by them and fell on their holding hands.

During that moment, their youthful faces leaned closer as their full lips touched to form a sloppy first kiss. Ever since that day, they've been inseperable and swore great fidelity to each other.

Time passed. The 7-year olds turned 14 and still loved each other. But time's ravages and fate's cruelty did not show any mercy to these young lovers. The boy's mother got a divorce and now she is marrying another man on the other side of the country. Unfortunately, the boy had to live with his evil mother and leave his girl in the small town to be forgotten.

"You promised we would be together forever!" the girl cried melancholic tears. Her grey eyes once happy now sad. Her full heart now scarred. Her once beautiful smile now a dismal frown. The boy merely shook his head and did not dare look at her. He could not stand this pain he is causing for both of them. He could not stand this fact of how he has to leave her because of his wretched mother. He could not stand the fact that he will have to break his promise for his parent's selfish purpose.

Though his mother told him he will get over it, he couldn't. How can he get over this? This pain... this unbareable day...this unbareable love...this painful sea of sorrows.

Without a warning, the girl glared at him with pure hatred, "I hate you!" and ran away as fast as she can. Away from that grassy hill that was filled with so much memories. Away from that tree swing that bloomed with pink flowers that died in the eve of fall.

Glued to his position, the boy whispered as a tear slithered down his frigid face, "But I love you..."

Three days later, a day before the boy moves, a school concert transpired and as a last performance, the boy performed with his band. With great courage, he announced, "This song is for the girl I love." Everyone knew who she was. Everyone knew what this was all about. And for the next 3 minutes and 12 seconds, the boy sang a song deep in his heart. A song he wrote with all his life for her. It was the last song he would sing for her.

Later that night, the girl with great apprehension knocked on the boy's front door. Surprised to find her there, he stood awed and sad. Suddenly, she jumped on him and wrapped her weak arms around him as tightly as she could and kept on saying, "don't forget me" as she wept and wept endlessly. The boy hugged her back and promised never to forget her.

12 hours later, a news report came about a car crash in a Connecticut highway caused by the horrible weather during flight. To the girl's horror, the reporters stated the names of the victims and said, "there were no survivors". To her even worse horror, the boy and his mother were the passangers of the car. No one was on the scene during the accident and no animal inhabbited the area either. One theory was placed, "the boy was probably arguing with his mom and distracted her from driving" thus the crash.

Kristian M. Austrie died at the age of 14, on Monday night in Stamford Connecticut. The car was a total wreck but they found a note clenched in his dead hand. On the piece of paper was a written letter for the love of his life, but it was sadly ruined in the crash and his last thoughts were never spoken to the girl he loved.

Time passed, seasons changed, years have gone, the girl changed and simply was able to cope with her loss. Though she is now currently engaged, she has never forgotten the boy who wrote her the last song.
