xanga design newb..., ...needs help! Options

hey guys =)
working on a new skin, and i'm having problems with scripting for two separate div layers.

i have one layer for blogs, and one for an "about me" section. both of them are aligned properly left-right wise, but they won't show up next to eachother, just one on top of the other.

also, the css script doesn't seem to affect the second div layer. is this normal?
