I hate when people say that.

There are these guys and they think they're cool cause they hate these "preps" such as clothes like Abercrombie and stuff. They think it's stupid shopping there for clothes that "just come in different colors". So basically, they go to Hot Topic because they have "big pants, cd's, and band shirts". Pretty lame, huh. Hot Topics just as expensive.

But that's not the point.

So the other day they were all "Ew, Jenny, you're wearing a polo. My mom bought me like 4 polos a couple months ago and I burned them."

Now, it's not only him. I guess it's like 3 or 4 other people because they're so cool.

And I reply "You burn polos? Your mom has the heart to buy you clothes and you're wasting money by doing that?"

And he goes "WELL, IT'S NOT MY MONEY."

I wonder how many people say that, "Well it's not my money, it's my parents'."

That pisses me off so much. Who cares if it's not YOUR money, it's your parents' money and it's like the same thing. If your parents go broke and can't pay the bills, don't YOU have a part in that? Because YOU would be the one without a house, ALSO.

So my question is, how many people have heard people say that and how do you feel about that?

I've heard people say it, but I've only ever reacted to it once. I had the same reaction as you. I told them that if their parents go broke it'll affect them also.

I've heard it many time and it bothers me. I live in a very rich suburban area and my parents are pulling their asses off just so we can still live here and my family does not have the money for all the pretty clothes at those stores. We shop at JCPenny and those cheap stores simply because we can't afford to go to Hollister. I mean yes I do have stuff from their, but my whole wardrobe is very varied. Anyway, yes I hate it when people say that because they really don't know how it is to not have money.

I really haven't heard that said that many times... But I agree, it is pretty ignorant of them to say that since their parents are supporting them. What would they do if their parents stopped paying for things and they were on their own...

I hate that. I hate how they don't feel guilty about spending their parent's money. I hate how they're so spoiled. I hate how those people are so stuck-up.

Okay, sorry. But the point is....I hate those types of people.

I've never actually said that, because I've always been a "cheap" kid. When I tell my mom I want this toy or that shirt, if she says that it's expensive, I'll just back off. I ALWAYS feel guilty. And sometimes I don't do it on purpose; I'll buy a shirt that looked awesome in the store and not touch it later. I feel so guilty.

It's really ignorant to say that it's not "your" money. Any money that your parents make go to benefit you, and if that's not "your" money, I don't know what is.

Agreed. Except the guilty part, I always WANT to get something, but then I don't and my mom gives me this weird look.

My mom actually is nice enough to fill my wallet so I am maxed at 20 dollars. By the end of the week, I STILL have 16 left =/

I used 4 because of pizza, and drink

Btw, thought JCPenny was female clothing

i myself wouldnt be caught dead in a polo or hollister , but thats because A) i dont like those clothes and B) i dont want to look like the girls who wear that at my school -- theyre snobby horrible bitches , seriouslly . thats the nicest term i can use .

but its just ridiculous to burn clothes . the little idiot was just trying to show out . cuz i mean , if my mother bought me something i'd still be grateful she got it for me , she was thinkin of me apparently . but by the sounds of it , those are the From First To Last , TBS , FallOutBoy kids who think they're punk rad when in fact they're annoying and stupid as f*ck .

eh ... people are stupid ... go punch em in the face next time ... well , a group of angry goths isnt good ... hrmm ... just tell them to f*ck off or something .... or pour yellow paint on them , that ought to get em good ....

If my mom bought me something I totally hated, I'd just...not wear it. Eventually she'd give up on persuading me to put it on, and either wear it herself or give it to charity.

It's a waste to burn clothes, no matter how much of a label they can put on you.

i think people should respect their parents. if you dont like a shirt they get you at least say thanks and tell them its not really your style or somethin. gosh they could just not wear it or donate it to people who need clothes.

ugh those people are retards they disgust me.

I've heard it a few times.
I've never said it before that I know of.
But I hate it when people say that.
Especially if your parents buy you things you dislike, or if you keep on pestering them about these expensive things until they buy it.
Don't they care where the money came from?
They worked hard for that money...
And someday you shall, too.

That's horrible for them to say that. It bothers me when i hear my friends say that.

It may not be their money, but it's someone's and they actually bought you something with it when they could've done a lot of other things. Sometimes my grandma might buy me something that I wouldn't really wear, but to make her feel good I might wear it around her a couple of time. I certainly wouldn't burn it though.

1)She isn't making the argument of Abercrombie vs Hot Topic or something like that. She is just stating that kids waste clothes
2)What do you listen to that is soo punk rawk hardxcore ehh?
3)You seem like someone who would hate to be judged, yet you are judging the kids who said that about hot topic. How do you know what they listen to, let alone how you dress.

Roar, I can't decide what makes me more angry; people who waste clothes/money or those who judge off of music taste/style. Good lord people, shape the f**k up. [Ps, that is not JUST directed at you Les]

That's crazy. You make yourself look bad, and that you don't respect anything of those who are being considerate. You the don't deserve anything if you know what I am talking about

That kind of thing really pisses me off. If they don't like what their parents bought them, why do they have to burn it? The least they could do is return it and use it to buy clothes or something that they would enjoy instead. Around my birthday or Christmas time, when my parents give me clothes, they always say that if I don't like the clothes that they gave me, that's fine but to let them know so that it doesn't go to waste. The fact that those kids can't respect their parents or themselves and takes things like money for granted is really sad. I'm glad that you spoke up...I think that more of us need to do that in the future.

That's very ignorant. I don’t sense any appreciation. Our situation is very similar.

Person #1: Let’s buy a lot of food!
Person #2: you’re wasting someone’s a lot of money.
Person #1: So, we’re not paying for it.

mad.gif At least, find something better to say than “So, we’re not paying for it”.
