QUOTE(xchrystizzle @ Oct 15 2005, 10:14 AM) i dont like it because people are going to focus on the models and how unique they are rather than the clothes they're modeling. i think its easier for designers to only have tall, thin models because when they're making their clothes for the fashion shows, they don't have to customize each and every piece of clothing. and there's nothing wrong with being tall and skinny. some people cant help it so please don't go calling it ugly. now everyone is going to want to be a model and the shows will be a contest of who has the most wide range of people rather than whos got the nicest designs. yay! [/sarcasm] Are you implying that normal people can't be a model just because they're not skinny and tall? okay. right. I think this is a great idea. =) QUOTE xoxo_koala_kisses_ Posted Oct 20 2005, 9:16 PM What's wrong with more people wanting to model? Finally opportunities are opening up for a wider variety of people. Finally the "perfect size 0" trend is fading. This is a milestone for the fashion industry. ![]() |

QUOTE(yummy_delight @ Oct 13 2005, 8:02 PM) Wonderful. I think I'll start wearing his clothes now... assuming I can afford them. I'm also a huge fan of the Dove ads that show REAL women. I think it's great that at least some companies are keeping in mind that not all of their consumers are stick thin. I'm glad that they're taking into account the reality of our bodies. yeah i love does dove ads i think this is a great idea |

Its good~ Eversince the reason that there's been a decline in sales is because women or their target markets are put off by the really thin models that look good in those clothes.........
But then there's the idea and impression of the target market thinking it might not look good on them. Dove has started to use normal women of all shapes and sizes for their advertising instead of the thin beautiful models~ Sales have increased heaps bcoz of that change. |

Finally. A chance for normal people [not skinny beautiful models] to shine.
But then again, don't get me wrong; not all skinny pretty models are bad; it's just.. normal people aren't ever portrayed. Even though a majority of normal people wear the clothing. ![]() |

QUOTE(Gypsy Eyes @ Oct 11 2005, 12:39 PM) I think it was a great thing to do. Not everyone is tall and anorexic thin. Why should a size 0 be defined as the only beauty? I personally think that most of the size zero models are disgusting. People who say that these girls are beautiful have obviously not been backstage at a fashion show where diet pills and anorexia are a common thing where you can see every single bone in their body. Curves are beautiful, and just because they are overweight or old doesn't mean they can't be. Modeling isn't only about being beautiful, in fact there are many beautiful girls who can't do it because it takes confidence not being tall and thin. Sorry a bit of a rant there. But i think it's an amazing thing he is doing. Well great then. I'm 'disgusting' and I can't even f**king help it because I was born that way. I know a girl who suffered from anorexia for a while, and my size zero pants were huge on her. I would never praise or advertize anorexia as something that is attractive, but I do believe in giving people who suffer from it support, not ridiculing them or talking down on them for something they have little control over, something that has taken over their life. What's disgusting is how people like you make assumptions about models and people who are thin. I don't (and never did) have an eating disorder. I'm 5'7 and 112 lbs. My doctor has never even mentioned me being too thin. I'm not against John Galiano. I just think it's rude for people to critisize people who can't help how thin they are. You say that being a size zero shouldn't be defined as beauty? Well my boyfriend thinks I'm beautiful. My friends think I'm beautiful. I think I'm beautiful. Just a bit of a rant. |

^ I totally agree with you. We have gone so far to create more realistic images of beauty that we have forgotten, even criticized and ridiculed the former perfect image.
By the way, I don't think Jackie'll be here to respond to what you said, but I'm sure she didn't mean that to offend anyone. Just poor choice of words. |

It is a great idea to choose normal lookin' models because seriously not everyone can be that thin. Everyone seems to be getting the idea that thin is the only way to go; to me, as long as youre healthy-it's all good.

QUOTE(Nicolatofu @ Oct 13 2005, 12:15 PM) Maybe it'll spread in our society to show that you don't have to be tall, thin, and perfect to be considered beautiful. It's a wonderful idea. Agreed, it'll spread and that would be awesome ![]() QUOTE(lea_ @ Nov 5 2005, 8:57 AM) Just because they arent all skin&bones doesnt mean they have a "bad body" or w/e ![]() |

in response to airtightdiver, gigi is right. I didn't mean anorexia in itself is disgusting, i meant how we viewed it as beautiful. Fashion modeling agencies even encourage " very limited eating". I never meant it to be offensive

QUOTE Really? Are you tall, think and beautiful yourself? uhh im just tall and thin (yes, a size zero) not beautiful i think all body shapes are beautiful but now everyone will want to become a model... and im sorry to say most of them will get their heart broken its ok if anyone disagrees with me but i just dont want ppl to get their hopes up and get them smashed to a pulp when they try to find an agency to model for... therefore, i do not like this idea |
