i dont really want to sound computer illiterate, but can you upload a song onto your computer from a CD, and put it on your xanga? Ill probably need a host, but hostultra doesnt allow music files, and photobucket is for photos...

Okay, do u have Nero? Nero 5 or something?
This is what you do, to copy songs from CDs onto your HD (Hard Drive). Follow these steps: 1. Put the CD into the CD drive. So your computer can access the cd. 2. Open Nero-Burning ROM ). Not Nero Express. Nero lets you burn songs onto your computer. 3. Click Recorder on the menu. 4. Click Save Track. 5. Click your D:/ or E:/ drive or whereever your CD drive is located. 6. Click [b]CANCEL if it asks you about some output format or something. 7. On the Track List, Select the song you want. 8. Okay near the bottom of the top window it says Output file formatselect what format you want the song to burn on as (such as .WMA or .MP3) 9. Click Settings next to it 10. Select the Bit-rate (quality of the song). I prefer 32-bit cause it's still clear but a really small file. 11. Click OK. 12. Click GO. 13. Then go and find the file where it is saved at and then upload it on Angelfire or some other webhosting site. a free one, that is ^_^ Hope this helped =D |

Okay, go to an uploading site, that allows webhosting, like angelfire.com or something. then sign up (if you already haven't) and then log in. Then CLICk on webshell, it's on the right hand corner. Then it goes to this page with a scrolling box. The scrolling box is what files are in your website domain connected to angelfire. Then below, it has an empty space and there's a button next to it that says browse. Click that button and a browse search box will pop up. Search for the song in yoru hard drive. When you find it, select it, then click okay (or double click on the file). Then click Upload I believe. then it will opload. the window will refresh, then in the scrolling box, it has a file. copy the url of your website and add the filename after it, so it will look like http://www.angelfire.com/blah/blahblah/thesong.wma or something like that. copy that url and then go paste it in the CLAF (Looks and Feel section) at the bottom where it has a little space where you can add music. That's as simple as I can tell you. I'm saying this at the top of my head, so I'm not FOR SURE about the buttons. Hope that helped

Don't bother with angelfire....bandwidth is limited. Before the day is done, angelfire will shut down whatever music you uploaded.

It's just that since bandwidth is limited, the song wont play on your xanga(especially the popular ones ) as long as you like. Heck, I uploaded 1 song in angelfire and it lasted about 15 minutes. - Chinkieeyedpnoi |

Mm... you can ... try to search for high bandwidth/unlimited bandwidth free servers
try: http://213.3.4.196/ If they still give out free hosting... then that's the place you want to go to. =] OH YOU CAN ALSO USE AOL! IF YOU HAVE AOL |

Who is your internet service provider? I think every ISP give you a soem free webspace for you to upload your files. SO use that as storage for your mp3s for your xanga site.

I don't know about you guys, but my high school has a bunch of FTP servers. I upload my songs to my private FTP account and play them from there, works great. Plus there aren't any restrictions on bandwidth or file sizes so its awesome.

QUOTE(annchovie @ Apr 28 2004, 5:15 PM) i have nero burning Rom, but the only step i got was "recorder". i coulndt find save track..oh and the CD i have is burned..i think that may be a problem? Annchovie.. On the menu... on the menu, you click Recorder and then click Save Track. It's in the drop down menu of Recorder lol. What version of Nero do you have? If it's around 5.0 or better, then it should have that option. ANY cd works, as long as it's a regular cd. Even if it's a burned cd, as long as the cd plays on your computer, your stereo, your dvd player, and/or your cd player, you can save track. You just have to find where the cd is and click cancel or something because most cds don't have titles or all that information on them. They mainly are just songs. Yea, sorry if I'm making this complicated lol. It's a little confusing... |
