Uhm, an easy way will be to use the Admin panel for this, i mean into your Administration Panel, at General Admin, and use Backup Database then go to the other hosting where you wanna re-install your forum, install a new fresh one and then go to General Admin and use Restore Database by uploading the gziped backup from the other hosting, but not always works this way because of the different versions of mysql/php between that 2 hosting companies. but you can give`it a try...or just try to point that domain/subdomain to the right IP address it is required...
Usually poiting your domain to a new IP address takes from 24-48 hours untill it will be fully ready for use, depends from hosting to hosting and how much free time they have :) and almost all the times you need to change your domain DNS too, but again it depends on how much access you have on that hosting as a normal user or admin. QUOTE Database Utilities : Backup Here you can back up all your phpBB-related data. If you have any additional custom tables in the same database with phpBB that you would like to back up as well, please enter their names, separated by commas, in the Additional Tables textbox below. If your server supports it you may also gzip-compress the file to reduce its size before download. Database Utilities : Restore This will perform a full restore of all phpBB tables from a saved file. If your server supports it, you may upload a gzip-compressed text file and it will automatically be decompressed. WARNING: This will overwrite any existing data. The restore may take a long time to process, so please do not move from this page until it is complete. Most of the phpBB-related forums have these options. I hope i could help... |

I believe the domain specified in your settings must be the same as the server on which your forum software resides.

I'm having the same problem. I don't think your answer was for invisionfree forums... so it didn't help.

QUOTE(incoherent @ Sep 28 2005, 6:13 PM) well im trying to get this website www.randomocity.forumup.com onto this one... http://s13.invisionfree.com/randomocity/index.php?act=site that way it's easier to remember. Well, for one thing, the first one uses phpBB, while the second uses Invisionfree. But also...I'm not sure I understand what you are trying to do. The forum on www.randomocity.forumup.com should use database and software stored on that server. |
