i love it when people are like...  are you chinese?  or korean?  or japanese?    and then i say "i'm american"

and they ask "where do you come from"

and then i say "texas"

and then they say "before there"

and then i say "georgia"

mmm

yes yes.
*

HAHAHA

yeah i was born in NJ and moved to texas.

so people would be like "where you from"
and i'm like "NJ"
and they'd be like "no, where were you born?"
and i'd be like "NJ"
and they'd be like "i meant where you were REALLY from"
and i'm like... "america?"
and they'd be like "no, like your homeland!!"
and i'm like "america..."
and they'd be like "WHERE WERE YOUR PARENTS FROM?"
and i'd be like "taiwan"
and they'd be like "so you're taiwanese"
and i'd be like "no"

alright. if you see a white person, can you identify what country they are descended from?

When I see a White person, I call them "white", I don't call them, German, American, England, or etc.
So, when I see an Asian person, I don't call them, Chinese, Japanese, or Korean, I say Asian. Unless I know their specific nationality.

I also hate it when some people at school purposely call you Chinese/Japanese just to annoy you.
Like this kid came up to me and goes, "Are you Chinese?" And I said "No, I'm Vietnamese and Taiwanese." Then he laughed and said "It doesn't matter, so are you Chinese or Japanese?" And then went off and goes "Hey, look at that Chinese girl over there."

yeah lol! What are you ppl so mad about? Most people can tell the difference between someone from India and someone from Pakistan, but its not like we get all mad about it. laugh.gif I mean i know it might be annoying when ppl are like ARE YOU CHINESE? But asian means ppl from South Asia too, so really calling someone asian can mean a lot of things =D

But its like when you got to Asia, like China, Japan, Korea...they automatically think that if you're caucasian or even foreign in general, you're from america...which is prolly irritating for ppl from Australia and Europe lol! And "white" I feel is sometimes really racist. So yeah, i just say caucasian ....lol.

THe whole chinese thing is yes, a bit annoying, but let me ask again
CAN YOU TELL THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN INDIANS AND MIDDLE EASTERNS? not many can...so chill. =D

But for those who tell someone theyre like korean and they keep calling them chinese, then you're right. Theyre idiots stubborn.gif tongue.gif

I could've sworn that I've already replied to this topic before, but since I'm too lazy to check...

In my opinion, it doens't really bother me a lot. I mean, I've experienced people coming up to me and asking in Chinese dialect, but then I quickly shake my head and tell them that I'm Filipino. Then it usually goes like this:

Stranger: "Really? I though you were Chinese!"

Me: "I am."

Stranger: "But you said you're Filipino!"

Me: "Uh.. I'm both, but I can neither speak nor understand Chinese."

So yeah, it's really not that bad. My friends even said I look Korean at some angle. biggrin.gif

Well. I'm Chinese, so I don't have to worry about this, but all my korean friends get called Chinese and it's like "Um, excuse me. I'm korean."

At one point I got called Latino though. blink.gif

Yeah, sometimes I get a little confused. Like, I'm Indian, but sometimes people just think "Oriental Asian" if I check the Asian box on like a test or something. India is in Asia, so I do think it's appropriate, but sometimes I do check the "other" box.

OMG! <33 Over here everyone is like omg you Korean! And I'm like no. Not really thanks for trying though. And when they find out I'm Jap they are all " -_- you bombed my country" It's so annoying! I mean no I really didn't I wasn't even born. And when they say our languages sound the same, they really don't. So they're like 'say something in Japanese. Do an anime voice." O_o. Ugh...
