I am not religious, I'm 19 and I am a virgin. I stay this way because I dislike what sex has become - whether it be portrayed through the media as something that complete strangers now feel at ease doing with each other, or because of the levels of teenage mums and the record levels of STI's. I'm not even sure I can explain my choices to myself, but I prefer to do my own thing and not to give in to a bunch of walking hormones.

Anyway, I've always wondered if having premarital sex was forbiddn for an unconfirmed Christian? Because, of course, premarital sex is forbidden for a confirmed, practicing Christian, it goes against the statement of committing adultery. But what if one was unconfirmed, does it still count?

Sorry, the chances of a christian swearing is much higher than the chance of him or her having premarital sex. If he/she wasn't Christian, I wouldn't give a shit that much. I always have interpreted that to mean "cheating" on a partner. Adultery by it's very nature is surely forsaking the trust of one relationship for another. Using your logic of adultery being the act of having sex before marriage, I do not believe you actually have to be married to do this!

Actually, not to nitpick, but I think you're wrong. Swearing is a much more public thing, so if you swear, people hear you - if you do it in private only, why do it at all? I would take the opposite opinion and say that most Christians DON'T swear, because they don't want others to see them as bad followers - it's not in good practice to not have control over your tongue, is it? Sex is rather private, so if it happens and nobody finds out, you're still in the clear - you're forgetting that many people are Christians only because they're afraid of what other people will think about them. If they're hiding from everyone else, it doesn't matter to them that they're not hiding from God. I think it's equally as likely to see a Christian swearing as opposed to finding out that they've had premarital sex and kept it a secret.

We don't get to heaven by good works and being perfect because if that were the case, there are not enough good works we could do to be able to measure up to Jesus.

We simply get to heaven by faith and faith alone. That means if someone has faith, but sins and has premartial sex, they are not bad christians. Them having premartial sex is equal to you swear

And yes, I am a christian. I am a Lutheran (Missouri Synod) and I have not had pre-marital sex nor do I plan too yet I do not judge others if they do because I know that I myself have also sinned.
