flirt with him. see how he feels about you. let him know youre not some just some childish girl, since he's much older he might not want to be dealing with the drama and immaturity of younger girls. if you know what i mean lol. 10 years is a big age difference, but i've heard of people who's been able to work it out. give it a try

^^ why should she flirt? they can't go out. i'm pretty sure he doesn't want to go to jail.
i think you're a 16 year old who has no clue what love is. by the time you're eighteen, you'll have forgotten all about him. |

you dont have to be old to understand love. i dont think there's a problem with trying. they've been to the movies together. what she should be worrying about is whether he even likes her or not.

^ actually you do haev to be old to have had some experience in love otherwise you're gonna make the same/new mistakes and hurt yourself.
this guy is 10 years older than you...i'm thinking he has a different thinking style than you since youre 16. its a huge difference, and love isn't some glue that will keep you to together, you'll have to face hardships in your life so think carefully what you want. do you love him or want him? |

Even though you two are flirting it would just seem...not approved at the moment for you your age to be dating someone who is 26. Especially if word got around people might get a little curious or actually worried.
Besides he is in college and you're in high school. He can drink you cant legally yet. Just sounds like some trouble could be involved later on. |

10 years isn't a big age difference. Of course you don't have to be older than 16 to understand what love is. But problem is that you both are at two very different points in your life. You start to (legally) drive at 16, but you're out of college, have a degree, and a career at 26.

Ten years is a huge age difference when you are sixteen and he is twenty-six. He's gone through a lot more life experience than you have at this point and the way he think and acts reflects that.
Though of course, when you get older, it's not as big of a difference. My parents are eleven years apart but at this point in time you couldn't even tell. |

Sometimes I wonder what the hell is wrong with these older 20 year olds thinking it's ok to even entertain the idea of dating someone below the age of 18. Why can't they get girls there own age? Because there god damn weirdos that's why.

Honestly, I could give a shit about age differences. The problem here is that you are jail bait. Like it or not, you get caught doing the nasty, he can potentially have some pretty nasty legal problems and that would put a huge dent in any relationship you might have.
Flirting is fine. I wouldn't recommend anything further than that though. |

Honestly I think he's just being nice to you. Considering you guys are also family friends...I don't think he's actually into you, or ever will be (at least in the near future).
It doesn't mean you have to stop being friendly to him, just stop thinking this will go anywhere and treat it as a friendship, or the same kind of crush you have on a teacher. Yes, age may be just a number, but 10 years is absurdly large and when it comes down to it, not only is it dangerous legally, but you two are also highly incompatible at this age. |
