why are women's sports so stupid? i don't understand certain aspects of women's sports. my two biggest annoyances have to do with softball and basketball, but i'm sure there are other sports where women for some reason have arbitrary differnet rules.

why can women not play baseball? why do they have to play softball? i don't get why women aren't capable of hitting a ball that's smaller than a grape fruit. to add insult to injury, now most the softballs are florescent colors. not only can they not hit a normal sized ball, they cant even see it coming if it's not the shade of highlighter. i don't see what aspect of baseball women couldn't do though or why they only get to play softball.

as far as basketball, the biggest thing is again with ball size. why do women use a smaller lighter ball. i've never known a girl who played basketball that couldn't shoot a men's ball. most girl players i knew could palm a men's so if you can palm that then what's really the need to have a smaller ball for girls. i get that typically their hands are smaller but it's not like a men's size basketball is that huge to begin with. i don't see why they can't just use the same size.

I never understood that either, especially with softball. If you're going to be stereotypical, wouldn't you give women something lighter to hit?

But it doesn't really bother me since I don't play sports on organized teams and I usually find women's sports really boring to watch. They're not as fast-paced and intense as men's in general.

yeah i understand that, kids using something smaller because they're small. i don't understand why a grown ass woman in the WNBA who is bigger or the same size as most dudes can't use the same size.

women's sports are boring to watch when it comes to a lot of them. i don't get why they can't be more fast paced. i've played with girls who play fast paced like guys, so it's not like they physically can't. it makes me think they're just encouraged not to or something.

women do play baseball. it's just not as widely put out there.

QUOTE
Last year, the U.S. women's baseball team took the silver medal in the women's World Series, played in Japan. In the United States, the team's feat was barely noticed. Nor did the team's gold medal win last year in the World Cup in Canada garner much attention.

"Despite what they achieved, they never got the recognition they deserved," says Nicholas A. Lopardo, general manager of the 2004 USA Baseball Women's National Team. "We're still scratching our heads to figure out why."

Me, too. One of the first questions I asked while learning about baseball is this: Why do women play softball and men play baseball? I found that the question is one many female baseball players struggle with every day.

"People just assume that softball and baseball are the same thing or that it's an equivalent for women," says Robin Wallace, the executive director at the North American Women's Baseball League. Wallace was the first female athlete to play varsity high school baseball in her hometown of Mobile, Ala.

It turns out that women have played organized baseball nearly as long as American men.

And, imo, women's sports are less fun to watch because women don't have testosterone, which makes it... less aggressive and less competitive. Idk, though, just my thoughts.

yeah but i mean even if it does exist it's not like it's an option for most girls i don't think. most of them their only option offered is to play softball. people always treat it like the women's alternative to baseball.

They should let them wear high heels in the WNBA. It'd be more funny to watch imo. Plus, maybe you'd see dunks more often.

Women need to stop bitching about equal pay. Their games are always less exciting, less memorable, and it's always about f*cking stupid group hugs and "we love each other win or lose" bullshit like that instead of working as a team to obliterate the opposing team piece by piece.

I have always wondered about this. I mean, all kids start out in t-ball, but then as they get older the boys to to coach pitch baseball girls to coach pitch softball. I dont get it. Why is it also that guys dont usually play volleyball? Wrestling also seems to be considered mainly for men.

yeah i see what you mean. it's less entertaining, just like the wnba is less entertaining. the only two wnba players people can usually name if they don't watch are lisa leslie and candace parker, aka the two dunkers. the entertaining ones.

i duno women are just screwed

I agree with the basketball argument. In regards to softball, men do play softball also. However they pitch it underhanded and slow. It's a pretty popular recreational sport in the south also. Another thing, I seen this study about how it would be harder for a professional baseball player to hit a softball thrown by a female pitcher. Reason being, despite the ball coming at a slower rate, it arrives earlier because the distance the girls pitch from is much shorter. _dry.gif Also, I read somewhere that the underhand pitch is a more natural way to throw the ball as opposed to over-handed. This is the reason why a softball pitcher can last an entire game without much fatigue as opposed to a major league pitcher.
