can someone be christian, really christian, follow christ and everything, and be gay? can you be a gay person (and i am targeting specifically guys in this thread) and still follow christ with all your heart, mind, and soul? Because the bible says that sexual impurity is wrong...but...iunno, it's a line...but i know so many people who are christians and follow christ with all they are, but struggle so hard with their homosexual feelings....

let's hear it...

QUOTE(brownsugar @ Jan 5 2007, 12:03 AM) *
That's not a good answer. Why would we turn to TV for a religious question?
---------

I don't know, I've thought of this before and I end up going around in circles. At the end of the day, I don't think it's up to us to decide how Christian somebody is or can be. I think that's something God will judge.

Because he's a real person. Even if his life may be exaggerated by the producers, I think they identified him as gay and christian for a reason. The bigger picture is that this minority exists in society. Basically, this is what I'm saying with the comment I made - There are people that align themselves as gay christians. How do you tell them that they don't exist? Being gay and christian doesn't exist, therefore, you don't either? Seriously.

So now that we've established the existance of gay christians, the rest is yours to decide.

Oh. Mis-read. Went off on a unnecessary tangent. xD

To answer the question at hand, yes, I do think that is possible. Being Christian is about the belief in Jesus and exemplifying our faith in the way we live our lives. However, as humans, we are bound to make mistakes. These mistakes are called sins. Being gay is obviously a sin. So then, if you put this into the context of your question, you are asking, "can someone be christian, really christian, follow christ and everything, and be sinning? can you be a sinful person and still follow christ with all your heart, mind, and soul?" Yes, you could. See, the point of this is to put "being gay" on an equal table. They do not hold more or less value than another. All sins are equal in God's eye, except for the unforgivable sin of blasphemy. I don't know what it is, but people tend to look at being gay differently than let's say, if you lied. Sins are sins, people. Simple as that.

Maybe that didn't help or make any sense at all. It made sense in my mind at 3am. pinch.gif If not, just ignore this post....

Yeah, it's possible. You can be straight and choose not to have sex at all. Why can't you be gay and choose not to have sex?

I don't know, you would be living in sin. If you believed in the bible and followed the bible you would always feel like crap about yourself... consistently feeling guilty about the life that you are leading. I mean, I guess being gay is just like any other sin. It's forgivable, but it's something that you are consistently doing. It's strange.

I think that it's possible to goto heaven. I know that I wouldn't risk it. Only the individual knows whether they are right with God or not. It's not your responsibility to get them into heaven or judge them. It's between the individual and God.

not to you but the bible says that homosexuals wont go to heaven, even if they keep it in their mind and never "come out" they wont go to heaven and arent really good Christians changing words from the bible to make it look like there's nothing wrong with it. the bible says its wrong and the word is God so you cannot disobey or question it, im sorry but God is a tough guy. happy.gif

Yes, of course. Even if you are a devout Christian, you can't help your sexuality. It's part of who you are.

of course you can, that's like saying that people who have pre-marital sex or commit any other sins are not christian. i think it's ridiculous for people to say that they should be ex-communicated and crap because of their sexual orientation.

O RLY?

Show me.

Gay sex is what's prohibited. Being gay by itself and not having sex is not a sin.

i think this is the direction i kinda wanted to go...but now, like i said in my other thread about christians on createblog, when you accept christ, it really is supposed to bring about a change...ie, you would be driven to sin less, and become more christlike and therefore you...iunno...this is going to come out wrong, but you wouldnt be gay...? i hope that came out better that i think it did.

I can say this with out a dout, yes! Yes, you can be gay and christian. Being Gay is just another sin then you can be forgiven for. The Bible says that the only thing that you can't be forgiven for is blasphemy. So taking part in gay sex can be forgiven. If you are gay it justmeans you may have a little more temptation to fight then others. But if you are gay and make no attempt to fight it I believe it says somewhere that homosexuals while not reach the kngdom of heaven, so you won't g to heaven if you die gay. So it would be hard on the person but you could be gay and chriatian. And I don't think there is anything wrong with gays going to church. They are sinners like the rest of us and they need forgiveness like the rest of us.

Isn't everybody constantly living in sin? Think about it. How many times do you sin daily? Sometimes, you sin without even knowing it. Because "being gay" is such a big deal, people tend to think that gay people sin more due to a sexuality preference? What the fcuk? Once again, All sins are equal in God's eye. Being gay doesn't have a higher value of sin than disobeying your parents.

Tell me, how do you constantly "be gay"? It's not like gay people are thinking of banging people of the same sex all the time. Because, really, that's the controversial issue with being gay, right? Sex and attraction with/to the same gender. There are other things that are usually associated with being gay, like a higher voice or an increased awareness of one's appearance... but that would mean girls are gay and sinning, which is ridiculous. rolleyes.gif

Yes, it's suppose to, but whoever said that when you accepted Christ, you would suddenly change your sexual preference? Maybe the change occured in a different aspect of your life. And a lot of people think that being gay is a choice. You can choose to wake up one day and say, "I'm into the opposite sex now!" But think about it. Have you ever tried to bury your feelings about a certain somebody, like maybe after a break-up? Or if you really like somebody right now, try to tell yourself to not like that person anymore. It's not that easy eh? Harder than it sounds. Isn't that what being gay is? Liking people of the same sex? I dare you to tell the gay community that sexuality is a choice. Can you really decide who you like and don't?

You can't choose to be gay, some people are and can not help it.

If god made you gay, then why would your choice in relationships make them a sinner?

I firmly believe that no one is qualified to determine whether or not the two can't coexist. The most genuine honest idea is this one:
QUOTE(kryogenix @ Jan 6 2007, 12:40 AM) *
Gay sex is what's prohibited. Being gay by itself and not having sex is not a sin.

But even that is only according to the Bible. Also, the Bible has been intrepreted in different ways (ie, King James' version, etc). With that being said, who's to say what is absolute truth? Who are any of you to judge? To say that you can't be Christian AND gay is a judgement and one that shouldn't be made.

Also, isn't "God" supposed to be this benevolent being? You really, honestly believe he would keep someone out of heaven because of their sexual preference?

I understand, of course, that these are your opinions and by all means, have them. Please, have them. Just stating mine as well.
