Hey, bloggers!

I’m going to NYC for a week in August, and while my initial purpose for going was to see B.D. Wong in “Pippin” (well, this one is in Sag Harbor), “Dirty Rotten Scoundrels,” and “RENT,” I can’t help but think…

I’M GOING TO BE IN NYC! I NEED TO SHOP!! ;)!

So! I really don’t have much of a style (mostly t-shirts and jeans and my sweet kicks. I love Adidas, converse, etc) since I’ve been moving a lot and a lot of my schools had uniforms (HORRIBLE!), but now that I’m here in Texas for a while... I thought it was the right time to get a look together. I’m going to be a junior in high school next year… late start, I know.

Where should I go to find jeans, cool t-shirts, and whatnot? I guess I could go as far to say I’m looking for “vintage,” but I don’t want to rule anything else out.

Then again… my favorite “outfit” consists of a pair of jeans (a little torn, but so comfy), my black and white Adidas, and a t-shirt I got from an online Broadway store (in which all the funds will go to AIDS research). So, YES. Very blah, bland, nothin’ special, I NEED HELP!!

I don’t even know what colors would be best with me! I’m very fair-skinned, about 5’9”, with blue eyes, dark bcbg glasses, and long blonde hair. I weigh about 138lbs, so I’m not the skinniest chick at my school, but I’m no Pillsbury dough boy (unless you ask my dads opinion. Then I’ve got the fattest ass on the planet).

Thanks in advance for any and all suggestions!

Look for a store called "Built by Wendy".
Uber rad Tees. Very "vintage". (:
I think there's one in SoHo but I'm not sure,
Check builtbywendy.com. happy.gif

Well, the Queens Mall is a really good place to shop. It has macy's, JCPenny's, a nice big food court with McDonald's and KFC and asian cuisine, and lots of other shops to look around in, including Hot Topic, PacSun, Aeropostale, Forever 21, Gap, and Papaya. It's got clothing, food, and jewelry, mostly, I think...

Anyway, it's my favorite place to shop, so I recommend it. :)

Well, if you're in the city, you should check out 34th Street. There are many stores around, including Macys, H&M, Old Navy, Gap, Forever 21, and the Manhattan Mall (which isn't as great as Queens Center Mall). I usually do my shopping at 34th, and it's accessible by many trains (the 1, 2, 3, N, R, Q, W, B, D, F and V train). But, if you are going to be in Queens, definitely check out Queens Center (take the R or V to Woodhaven Boulevard)

lilliannnn- I am *so* ready for Canal street! I've got two birthday presents to buy... Louis Vuitton, maybe? Hee!
Knockoff everything, you say? So there's more than purses and watches? There's t-shirts and things? Yay! (I want slippers!)

linke3- Oh my goodness, I almost forgot about Macy's! I'd like to go there... and Queens Center sounds interesting!

Thanks!!

From your description, I suggest Soho. The best way to check NYC out is by walking, so ride a cab to Soho and walk around and check out the stores. They're all full of urban clothes with little shops and cult brands.

If you're looking for the high-end shopping, Bloomingdales, Saks Fifth, Neiman Marcus will all fill your desires.

From most expensive to cheapest...

5th ave. in the 40's and 50's: Saks, Bloomingdales, Lacoste, etc.

Soho and Broadway: Victoria's Secret, Prada, American Eagle, Wet Seal, Armani Exchange, etc.

Seaport: Abercrombie and Fitch, Victoria's Secret, Express, Footlocker etc.)

34th Street 6th Ave (personal suggestion for all price ranges): Macys (a large selection!), H & M, Forever 21, Gap, Victoria's Secret, Sephora, Footlocker, etc.

In the Manhattan Mall (like 32nd and 6th): Wet Seal, Charlotte Russe, Strawberry, Aero, Express, etc.)

Chinatown: (Cheap bootleg purses) Vuitton, Coach, etc.

All I could think of right now =/

^^ Manhattan Mall (if you could call it that) doesn't have much, you'd be better off going to the mall in Queens (great place, it's actually two malls in the same area. Well, the other one isn't really a mall, all it has is Best Buy and Target but hey, Target kicks booty) or the one in Brooklyn.

Oooh, and if you're going down towards Canal, try Yellow Rat Bastard and its sister shop (located convieniently across the street) Sloppy Joe's/Dirty Jane's. YRB costs a tad more than Sloppy Joe's, though. There's also a YRB in the big mall in Queens.

Holy crap, I lived right near that place and didn't know it was there. As soon as I get back to the NY, I'm going to find it, that's a bet.

nyc is the coolest. wub.gif i love it here.

^ what everyone said so far.

1) Chinatown - you said you love tshirts riite? take either the Q or R? train to Canal. when you get off, take a look around. you should be between like Lafayette (sp?) and something. just kept walking straight down. this street has like everything! perfume, sunglasses, shirts, purses...etc.

2) Soho - awesome place with lots of designer shops. a little expensive but lots of choices. Noho is the same. YELLOW RAT BASTARD!

3) Antique Orange is near Chinatown and a few blocks near my school. designer names for a bargain. actually most shops are like that all over the place.

4) 34th/Herald Square/Manhattan Mall - Oasis + Aeropostale at Manhattan Mall. Clinquers is a store across from Macy's. Lots of cheap clothing.

... i have a small shopping problem. haha. hope you enjoy your stay.
