Well, you'll need to be 18 in order to purchase a domain name - or have a parent or guardian do it for you.

Other than the financial side of things, you can start at any age. I was 16 when I started getting into web design - I used sub-domains (Xanga, Myspace) to get around the credit-card holder business.

For some reason, I had a Paypal account before I was 18.

I honestly can't remember if I lied, or it worked out that way -- but yeah -- Paypal.

I would say when I was around 14 or so. I've had a paypal account since then. My dad just had a paypal account and made it in to a premier business and anyone that needs a card from the account can get a paypal card with their name on it.

so yea...

I had a geocities website when I was 11, but I didn't get my first domain name until I was 14. I think at first, I used my parents' credit card to pay for it, but when I turned 15 and got a job I paid for it on my own. You can technically get one whenever you have a way to pay for it.

Well, I was like 11 or 12 when i created my first website, although they were only free domains like batcave geocities etc. but i've never had a real domain name, because i almost lost interest. But I could get one now, or before if i just used my parents credit card.. so i really dont think it matters, as long as they dont no your not 18.. biggrin.gif _unsure.gif

i started 2 years ago ( age 14) i owned websites wayy b4 then but they was on sub domains. The first domain with paid hosting was on my old domain. www.criminal-rage.com
it was an old text-based rpg game which i made around $400 per month on. it was pretty sweet.
I still make text-based rpgs constantly. I realized that just being hired as coder was better then owning a website lol

you could start a website off any free site at any age but if you want your own domain and all that, i'm thinking that you'd need a credit card or a debit card to purchase the host. so 18? or whenever you get a driver's license so you can get a debit card.

i believe it would be a matter of simply reading a host's or domain registry's terms of service. usually they'll state minimum age requirements at the beginning.

I was 12 when I started learning about web design and 13 when I had my first real website. There's no real age restrictions on it.

If you use subdomains rather than paid-for domains, you can start your own website whenever you figure out enough of the site coding. :P
