Steal or No Steal Options

Have you ever copied off of someone else's style? Or seen someone else who has. Not breaking copyright but getting really close? kind of like how many people use the "blobs" myspace uses?

Please share.. and if you do if possible include a pic of the original and the "copy"...

yeah, i do the same... Ricky(anime.essence) inspires me to do most of my Div layouts and wentzxxpete with my regular myspace layouts

Definitely, but it's really only for inspiration sometimes. I try to make the idea my own as much as possible. But I usually only design something once I have looked at a lot of different versions of a particular style.

yeah amanda and ricky really inspire me also i love alison from panicked!! work and mona has amazing stuff so yeah i use a lot of people for ideas

I'm not a stealer. But I always look at layouts, usually here on cB as my source of inspiration, themes, color combinations, etc.

Wow I was just wondering the same thing... I just started making layouts/graphics and it's good to know that all the people who make great graphics that inspire me, need a little inspiration too. I can't really say a particular because I see a tidbit here and there from one layout or another, and I don't really have a style yet, nor one I look for. I do idolize Azarel, Toya, and Intercourse for their extensive knowledge on *everything* and they always have the coolest graphics and sigs.

i get inspiration ESPECIALLY since i havent been doing this for very long and I dunno whats good and what isnt. I still need help with coding so I will use bits and pieces of peoples coding that I like or from w3schools and piece it all together and change what I need to change to make it mine. i never make my design look just like someone elses but sometimes i will model off of it. i hate it when people get all mad about it cause obviously from this thread it is quite common to do!! and i think that comic is very funny in a very sick way haha

i dont really think it would be considered "stealing" if u were to look at someone else's art as inspiration. coz i mean. everyone does polka dots. everyone does hearts and so on so forth. but its when they take ur layout and like. design around it and/or make small alterations to it then call it their own thats considered stealing isnt it?

i personally have no grudge on people who "steal" as long as they credit me or leave me a msg saying that "oh i love your work blah blah blah" then im ok.

Yeah. I have to agree with all that she just said. I've learned to get over people who redistribute my layouts, but keep my credit on there. But when my credits are taken off, that's when I seriously get pissed. But yeah, looking at a great piece of art as inspiration and creating a brand new piece of work out of that inspiration shouldn't been considered as jocking.
