^ Cloverfield was only worth getting it on DVD. In theaters, it was a waste of money. I think these would make a fair nomination.. i thought they were good and the hype was fitting for them.. |

^Yeah, the hype definitely made it seem a bit anticlimatic. But I saw it in IMAX. Worth every penny. You definitely do not get the scope of the movie until you watched it in IMAX and feel the explosions vibrate through your seat. AMAZING! And the prisoner/civilian ferry showdown was such a great scene.
Gran Torino. Watched it in Brooklyn. Not the type of movie most teenagers watch cause it is a bit of a drama/coming-of-age unfolding but I loved it. Baby Mama. Wall-e. =) Iron Man. CRAZYYY! Hancock. I <3 Will Smith. That man can do no wrong (or at least, that man can do very little wrong) They weren't all technically cinematic works of art but they were the ones I enjoyed the most. |

Should probably distinguish between "best" and "most enjoyed". ;)
I actually enjoyed Cloverfield a lot. Not sure if it's a "best", but then again, I don't see many films until they are well out of the theaters. As far as what I would consider "best" (from what I've seen), Låt den rätte komma in (Let the Right One) would be on my list. I was completely blown away. PS, my picture's better than Nate's. heh I also really enjoyed Iron Man and Hellboy II: The Golden Army. Just some initial thoughts. |

Pineapple Express was my best movie, Role Models was awesome (I think I am in love with Paule Rudd), and I really liked Batman.
I want to see The Wrestler and MILK so bad though. |

ha, i really hate THE DARK KNIGHT, but of course.
You liked Cloverfield? The entire film made me want to vomit. eh. i had a very memorable, very energetic theater-experience. and, the camera thing never bothered me. i mean, THE BLAIR WITCH PROJECT is my favorite movie of all time for f*ckssss sake. of cause the camera didn't bother me. Repo! The Genetic Opera totally not down just because of its association with the creative powers that brought us (shit in a bag) SAW. nonetheless, ANTHONY STEWART HEAD is amazing & i had a chance to meet him at a screening of this in chicago & i f*cked it up, f*ck! damn. oh well. |

Frost/Nixon, definitely. For a plot that seems relatively boring (it's just an interview, for God's sake!), the movie sure conveyed a lot of tension and emotion, and really pulls an audience in. Plus, it actually manages to humanize Nixon, and makes you feel sympathy for him, in some twisted way. Job well done.
