I finally finished the site. I bought the domain name in March, but I haven't made a decent effort to actually open it until now.

Tada!

It's kinda lame right now 'cause I don't have much to add to my portfolio yet and the pages aren't even full enough to pull the column to the bottom of the screen...but I had to start somewhere. It took me four hours just to type out the services section, and I'm already finding things I need to change. pinch.gif

I love that you added one of your illustrations to be the main background for it. I saw that it was linked on your main site.. but I believe at the time, it was just a splash screen? idr. It could use a favicon. Personally when I think of flamora, flamingo's come to mind, or spanish dances. word associations...

I'm not crazy about your choice of font for the "Flamora A personal blog and portfolio" but a site all about you, is supposed to be all about you. If I were to suggest a font, it'd be memoriam (to fit the site name in my perspective).

I think my favorite part about the site, is the actual blog setting, and the background. I like that some people will take the effort and use css to do more than just change the body text color and background to the page. thumbsup.gif

I wont say anything about the design except...its very pink. I think you should put the images in the portfolio in a set. That way there is a next and back button.

http://www.huddletogether.com/projects/lightbox2/
Go to part 2, and it shows you that if you just add square brackets after rel="lightbox it will make it a set. so...

@Thomas I'm not that crazy about the font choice either, but nothing else I tried was doing much for me. I thought something a bit more scribbly and natural looking would look best with the rest of the design, so the font you suggested isn't really going to fit in with my idea (although I am downloading it for later use).

But thanks a lot. :D I'll probably get to adding a favicon later...maybe.

@Joseph Thanks for reminding me about that. I wanted to do that before I even found the script, but I guess I forgot about it.

@Mike THANKS! I DON'T THINK YOU MADE THE SMILEY BIG ENOUGH. :)

^You must have a ginormous screen, then. I made sure it fit 1440px wide screens but didn't go any farther than that. I could probably change a few things so the painted gradient just repeats seamlessy across all resolutions...

YAYY GABI been looking forward to this laugh.gif I really like it! Only two things, very small things. I actually think the font for the Flamora header is okay, but I don't like it for the subheader. Second thing is that something bothers me a bit about the nav but I can't figure out what it is shrug.gif But I really really really really like the design and I can't wait until you get more content up thumbsup.gif

As you can see just by zooming out that, it doesnt tile seamlessly and it repeats itself. I also didnt realize it wasn't centered.

Of course only someone with a 24 inch monitor would see the girl twice.

^I know it doesn't repeat seamlessly. I said that, haha. And it's not supposed to be centered. ermm.gif

This is really great Gabi! The only thing I really don't like is the header font, but it's not that bad.

Was that your first time doing anything with Corel Painter? I have been wanting to try out digital painting.

It's adorable! I like the gradient and colors you used for it. But I would change the font, like Thomas said. But it's really nice!

Thanks guys. :)

This wasn't my first time using Painter, but I've only made one other painting before this. It's kinda difficult to get it to work how I want it to. Unless I'm not finding the right tools, it's hard to blend colors like you can with real paint.

Also, I changed it so the background repeats seamlessly on larger screens.

^It's better than it just repeating. Most people have screens smaller than 1440x900, and it looks perfectly fine in those. As long as it looks decent in the larger resolutions, I'm happy. shrug.gif

It looks fine. No one's screen is as big as the size that mike's screenshot is portraying.
