I have yet to see it, I need to. I might just buy it or something. I was turned onto The Walking Dead by my boyfriends 11 year old brother, Actually. & then i started buying them and finished reading all of them {{all as in about 1-8, cause I hadnt found the others yet)) & then I heard them announce that they were doing a show. Kinda crazy. But unfortunately I only see TV shows if someone has them on dvd, or if hulu has them. So, like I said, I'll probably buy it. haha

haha same here! They used to have the episodes on hulu but they removed them so I wasn't able to finish watching it. But I think the comics are soooo much better than the show.

whenever i have quiet time to myself i find myself picking it up. i'm excited to read the other two already and i'm only half way through it. some guy saw me reading it and suggested that i watch the films w/english subtitles. he said they're amazing and stay pretty true to the books. he also mentioned that the actual title translated to "man who hates women" or something like that. i'm so intrigued right now.

Haha, no need to put the spoiler tags on that... I mean, it's the original title afterall.

How'd you like the book? I thought it was super slow at the beginning, but once things actually started happening, I couldn't put it down!! I can't wait to read the other two now. (Did you watch the Swedish film adaptation? I was kind of disappointed...)

i'm not even done yet. i'm about 2/3 of the way through it. i need to pick it back up. it was definitely slow at the beginning. i think i glanced over the first chapter or two about 4 times before i actually read it.

currently reading the iliad by homer.

the problem i have with reading is that i know anyone can be an author. even unintelligent people, so as i read all i can think about is judging the author based on their writing. and sometimes the writing tricks you into thinking they're intelligent... so i only like reading books by authors im familiar with. and i usually prefer very old books so i know it's not someone writing a book to try and make money. anyone else like this?

these are the books i've read since august or so:

a stolen life-this was jaycee dugard's memoir and it was pretty okay.

room-SO good.

sarah's key-really good as well.

the night circus-[b]do not read this book! worst thing ever. no plot, lack of character development, just nothing.

the joy luck club-a book i've been meaning to read for a while, and i liked it.

jesus land-about a white girl and her super religious family adopting two black boys. such a great memoir.

currently reading:

a train in winter:

^ Phew, I was planning to get The Night Circus for a friend but wasn't too sure. And now that I've seen what you have to say about it, I know I won't. Thanks!

I read so many good things about Room, but I also read that it's extremely repetitive because it's narrated by a 5-year-old. Did you think it was a problem at all?

ahh, i'm SO glad you didn't! you can read my review of the book on amazon, haha:
http://www.amazon.com/review/RD01C7RAHDVZU...=&linkCode=

yeah, room is a good book, but i didn't recognize the repetitiveness that much. i think that could have been a result of how the boy told his routine every day, but once you realize the situation he and his mom are in, you get why he is repeating himself.

Can anyone suggest some good dark/horror novels? I need to read a LOT more this year. Last year I only read a single book.

what did you think?

p.s. NBA. what do you think?

Great Gatsby was pretty good. I didn't love it but it was short and fun to read, ok story. I like that setting.

NBA... mellow.gif

I'm happy with how Orlando is playing right now, but the Dwight saga is hanging over my head. I'm sure you can relate, as the Nuggets went through this with Melo last year. Though I think there is a better chance of Dwight sticking around and causing less drama than Melo.

Nuggets look interesting...people are picking them as a sleeper. I think they can go pretty far this year because they have the ideal team to cope with a condensed schedule. Youth and a deep bench. Plus the Denver altitude home court advantage will be even more valuable this year I think with all these teams playing so many back to backs.

the girl with the dragon tattoo was sooo slow in the beginning and all the characters were exhausting. also, the ending dragged with like a 100 pages of mikeal writing or whatever. sure, there were page turning moments, but i didn't want to read another book like that. but the first few pages of the second seem creepy already!

dwight is playing pretty well though, so i hope he sticks it out. but then again, i had the same hope with melo when he wanted to be traded :/ whatever, it is SO much freaking better without him.

wooohooo nuggets! they're playing really well and i'm proud of them so far. we'll see though. haha yeah, i hope the altitude plays a factor. hope the lakers lose tonight devil.gif

thus far there have been a few dull moments but they don't last long. There are a lot of characters who's stories keep coming into play. It is confusing at times. But the story as a whole is so interesting.

Spoke too soon. Somewhere in the middle there's a lot of seemingly unnecessary police stuff. Finished well though.

Now i'm into The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest.

Has anyone read anything by Jo Nesbø?

i just finished the girl who kicked the hornet's nest and found it soo disappointing. so many unnecessary details and wtf was up with the berger subplot? that whole part should have been taken out! i really liked the girl who played with fire though. that one was a page turner.

started game change a couple of days ago:
