Hey, I have a question or two about what people may think when they see the scars on my legs. I go to a private school and I have to wear a skirt and you can see that my knees have quite a few scars. Around school I'm comfortable because people there know how I get them, but when I walk home, I feel VERY VERY self conscious. I used to play sports and I used to play soccer on gravel(our school doesn't have a proper grass field). I even have this circular, dark scar on my kneecap from playing basketball when a guy fell on top of me and i skidded, practically scraping off the whole layer of skin. I dont allow myself to wear anything that's above the bottom of my knee and that's nearly impossible when finding a dress or having to dress up for an occasion. I dont like wearing shorts, and I despise skirts. I don't despise the skirts themselves, but I just hate hte fact that my fear of people being disgusted keep from wearing a pretty skirt or some great shorts. Inside I'm a girly girl who loves skirts.

To get to the point:
What would you think if you saw a girl with a lot of scars on her knees, and how can you overcome your selfconsciousness.

babe, consider yourself lucky; there's people dealing with much worse. i'm sure no one is going to care about your legs, or notice, for that matter.

You could use something like mederma to help the scars be less apparent. When you wear a skirt to school you could always buy some nylon stockings that are skin colored to soften the look of your skin.

You really shouldn't care what people think. Just be confident if people see and feel that you are confident then they know that you don't care about your scares and so they won't.

Believe it or not, it's a little deeper than that, dear. Someone who is self conscious can tell herself all she wants that no one notices or cares, but it still feels like everyone is just like, "Ew."

Anyway.

I agree--Go out and buy some scar reducer shtuff like Mederma. I had a lot of ugly scars, and I got some delightfulness to put on them, and they turned from that nasty brown/purple color to white-ish. They're not going to fully go away, but they'll be a million times less noticeable, and you're feel a lot better!

I also had a similar problem with shorts & skirts because I just flat out don't like my knees. But I bought a pair of shorts that I really really liked, and now I'm a little better about it. So yes. Don't just pick up any old skirt and expect it to be easy...Find a skirt or shorts that you love and really want to wear.

That's all. Good luck. :)

Be like the Joker. Make up a story about how you got those scars, and change the story every time you tell it to a different person.

I would find it weird if someone DIDN'T have scars.

They're your story, so let them tell it.

Everyone has scars sweetie it's nothing to be ashamed of.
Trust me I probably have more scars on my legs than you do and you
cant let it ruin your self image.
Just be proud of who you are.
Everyone who has played sports has scars.
So if people hate on you because you have an active life that's their problem.

Don't worry, I know tons of guys (including myself) who find scars on a woman attractive. It means they're not afraid to be a lil' playful.
