I don't know if anyone else has heard of the band Kings of Leon, but they're great. I started listening to them a few months ago, when I had to write a review for my college newspaper. I'd never heard of them, but I got the CD from the editor, and listened to it. And I was amazed. The band's great--it combines a rhythmic rock beat with an excellent melody and provocative lyrics. They remind me a lot of a band called The Toadies, which is one that a lot of people haven't heard of, but is my favorite band. The only real problem with Kings of Leon is that the singer's voice is almost as annoying as Billy Corgan's, but like Corgan's, it just seems to fit with the music. Anyway, I found out yesterday that Kings of Leon are headlining the Reading Festival in August, along with such greats as The Pixies and the Foo Fighters. In fact, Kings of Leon are up right after the Foo Fighters, on the second day of the festival. (The Pixies are, of course, opening the whole show, which is no surprise, given their popularity in Britain.)
So has anyone else heard of Kings of Leon? And if you have, what do you think of them being one of the headliners of the Reading Festival? And what do you think of such greats as The Pixies headlining the show this year? Personally, I think it looks like a great show, and I wish I could get out to Reading to see it! |

Actually, I have heard of them. Gawd, I couldn't stand listening to them though. I guess I just don't have that kind of taste like you do.

Ahhhhh READING FESTIVAL!? Man--another reason why I should move to the UK. It's one of my lifetime goals to go to a Reading Festival! ahahah. Anyway back on topic...
Kings of Leon is a great band. I first heard them in the movie Stuck on You. The directors must have loved em cause they used a couple of their songs in that movie. So I went crazy trying to find out who they were after hearing California Waiting. Yes, the singer does get pretty annoying if I listen to them too long but they are definitely a jammin band. I dont' mean literally a "jam band" aha, but they're great to just have fun and dance to. I LOVE Genius and Holy Roller Novocaine. -cheers! |

Pretty old, but there actually is a topic (started by me, no less). Anyway, my sentiments now are as they were then: pretty damn good band. I got into them after writing a review of their second album about four years ago, and I was hooked pretty quickly. I think they have a fairly unique sound.

Radioactive is the first track off their latest album, Come Around Sundown, due out in a month. Going back to that southern swag, I like it. |
