Should I get braces? I'm 15 and probably should have gotten them sooner but I'm thinking about it now. I'm honestly very nervous about the idea of having braces but I have an appointment in a few days to see what can be done. I started thinking about it because I've been having f'ed up jaw problems. To get my mouth open I have to move it in a circular motion or it gets stuck and hurts. Anyway, just discuss your experience with braces and tell me if you think I need them.
Mouths freak me out so these pictures are pretty nasty, but my teeth: |

if you're having problems with your jaw, braces might not be able to fix that. And when you say that you are constantly having to move it in a "circular" motion to open it & having lock-jaw, that sounds like you'll be needing jaw surgery. uh oh.
but as for the braces themselves, you shouldn't have to wear them for too long. Your teeth are already pretty good so probably a year at most? my teeth were very janked up (smashed together, one behind the other, etc). I had to wear them for 3 and half years. They were quite painful after the initial placement of the brackets & wire, and everytime i went in to get them tightened. But overall they're not that bad. You get used to them and feel weird when you get them taken off. |

um. bring up the idea of braces to your orthodontist for that next appointment. if it really bothers you to the point where you have to ask cB, then get it. honestly though, if it was really that severe, then wouldn't your orthodontist would have already assigned you braces? either way it's a win/win situation
good luck though man |

and the point of my post was to kinda give you in an insight that it's not that bad. lots of ppl get it all the time, so it shouldn't be that bad how you're explaining how it.

Get them as soon as possible, not because your teeth are horrible but it's just better to be young with braces, imo.

Crooked teeth suck ;/ Plus, it'll be cheaper if you're under 18, since most dental insurance plans (at least the decent ones) will cover at least 50% of the cost for dependents under 18 years old. Wow, what a run-on sentence. |

I got them. I got clear on top and normal on bottom to save money. They look bad, but I was expecting that and I'm looking forward to the end result.
Looking at the picture there I'm shocked because I've already seen a huge improvement. My front two teeth are totally straight. Now there is a small gap which I'm guessing will be pulled together during the next tightening. Oh and it cost like 3k. |
