well lets see im thinking of trying out for pep squad @ my school because people told me i should and i could be a good cheerleader but like im scared of trying out because this would be my first time trying out for anything..

questions ...
1) if you were/have been(before) scared to trying out for something what did you do to make yourself feel more comfortable w/ trying out ..

Well, it wasn't as much a tryout as it was an interview, but I was still super nervous! What I did was take a deep breath before it was my turn and just did what was true to myself. Do your best, that's all anyone can ask for. I'm sure you'll rock though, so go for it!

I know this is totally cliche, but just relax. Just go in there with the mindset that you know you can do it and just concentrate on the cheer/dance that you're doing. Good luck, let us know how it goes!

When you try out, just smile the whole time. And be sure to know ur routine, keep going over and over it. But you'll do fine! just keep smiling and try to be confident in front of the judges. They mostly look for spirit, and if you can learn a routine and are tight with your moves. I'm sure u'll do fine cool.gif

and are these tryouts for the football season next year? my tryouts are in april. for basketball we had them in october though..

anyway you have to be confident! and smile a LOT. make sure you stretch a lot before tryouts to be really flexible and have super high jumps.

Absolutely try out! Just be confident in yourself, and if you don't make it, there's always next year! Both last year and this year, trying out for cheerleading was scary, but I had my friends' support!

OOHH!! I made the cheerleading team at my school!! I was nervous when I tried out too.. Try laughing and having fun with friends before tryouts and practice your routine while doing that. We had to elevate a girl, do a precision cheer and do a cheer cheer for try outs and like when the bases were elevating the girl, the right base messed up half-way through and dropped her kinda, (i was back base) and like I half caught her.. AND I like stopped in the middle of a cheer we had to do.. BUT I still made the team happy.gif
