I think girls can get their period anytime. I'm not sure if it has anything to do with sport-type activities.

It has nothing to do with your physical activities...your period doesn't know if you're a dancer or a cheerleader, or a basketball player....it just comes at different times for different people.

my doctor said that since i was a gymnast, i would probably start late seeing as athletes tend to mature slower. he explained everything but i don't really remember. i actually started when i was 12 though and that's not late for me since my mom was around the same time. it usually just depends on your genes.

i dont think it matters what you are for when it starts, but athletes and dancers can have irregular periods b/c of the amounts of physical activity

mmyeah. i'm not sure about starting your period. but usually athletes and dancers get there's late every month. i'm a xc runner. i usually get mine every other month and then for 2/3 days. depends on your amount of physical activity.

My gym teacher/sex ed teacher said that if you are athletic you tend to start later because you have a very low body fat percentage and you need fat to prepare for having a baby.

Everyones body is different. You could start your period late if you are an athlete with a pretty intense workout, if you are under stress, or if you are dealing with emotional problems. Your body's maturity and your genes also play an important role in when you start your period. Also, remember that everybody starts their periods at different times so there's no normal time when you start it.

It's different for everyone..
But I think if you do a sport really competitively and you're always training, it pushes back when you get your period...
a lot of elite athletes get their periods when they're 16, 17, even 18.

getting your period is different for everything. i don't think of your a dancer/atheletc, doesn't make a diffierence. you just start whenever your body thinks your ready.
