Do your parents compare you to other people? |

my parents always compare me to other people so they can imbue some good sense into me, yes it's for my own good, but it really gets annoy especially when i just had a busy day, also, it seems like they don't have confidence in you and i feel like i am always not good enough.
my dad for example, he is like an expert on it, he used the " 'bad kid' who got less than 1200 on his sats and now he is going to community college....." example ever since i came to US, and he compares me to all his friend's kids or just random high school salesclerk who works at wal-mart etc. and he would often point to those over achievers in the newspaper, like the girl who got perfect score on her ACTS and go "why can't you just be just like her?? She is only 16, and you only have a year to prepare for those standard tests......" At least my mom is not that bad... I hate it when they compare me to other people I am sure that most of your parents do the same thing too. |

My mom always does that. How my friend is smarter than me. How she's in Calculus and I'm in pre-cal. One year behind. Big deal.
And then she complains about every small detail to the point where I compare her to her sister. |

My mom ALWAYS compares me to my cousin, its so freaking annoying, she's always like "she's so smart" "she's so tall" "she's so well-behaved" IT'S SO ANNOYING. Though my cousin's parents compare her with me too, in the opposite way my parents compare me with her.

all the freakin' time...who do they think they are...it's like one moment they are proud, the next they are bitchin' about how the other kid does something, "why can't you do something like that" bleh bleh bleh, i dispise it...so much...

ALL the time... to my sister. My sister is 3 years older than me... and she is soo perfect.... and they compare me to her and say "why cant you be as ______ as your sister?!?" Its sooo annoying!

Sometimes. My mom usually compares me to my friend amy. she sometimes gets on my case about my artwork because i'm not submitting my artwork to schools...but i like to use my artwork to inspire and help ppl

i've told them a million times that everyone's different and have their own way of doing things but they still compare me to my cousins on how i eat and how theydon't go out that much and i do...err...so annoying.

Yes, my mom ---- all the time. But I don't think my dad has ever said that to me. Just my mom.... it's pretty annoying, but she won't stop cause she thinks it's the right thing to say to me...
 ? Anyways she compared me to my old so called friend, emily... she said that emily is very smart, she works her best at her work...and then she tells me that i never try hard... >.<;; T____T;; im just really not in a great mood and she says that. she loves to say lots of negative words, all those put-down words. but my dad is always saying positive words. my mom thinks it's fun to say all those negative words to me. she talks to me like im a loser and doesn't know anything at all   well yeah i still need to learn, i mean im not a grown-up
