I have two questions for you guys. I know an annoying friend who is copying the links and everything off my xanga and taking credit for everthing. how do you see which ip adress visited my site.He is so annoying and i know his ip adress. Everytime i block him using the script i found here, he uses a random username to get on and copies the stuff onto his origenal xanga. Is there any script to block his ip adress from my site?

i dont know much about html, but, maybe you can try encrypting your codes? or report him...?

sorry but i don't think there is a script out yet that can block a person with a certain ip address from visiting your xanga site. it does exist though on some sites which utilizes what's called an htaccess file or block that can be modified to deny access to users of specific ip addresses, ip ranges or even domains. hopefully a script will come out soon that can do that on xanga because i can see where that would come in handy.

there is a script written in javascript which can capture a user's IP address and filter it to another page, however it doesn't work with Xanga (hehe, i've tried.)
what exactly is he copying? what about disabling the right click function and the keypress for ctrl+a? that might help out..... there are scripts for disabling the right click in the Xanga scripts section, but you might want to look to see if you can find a script to disable the keypresses for ctrl + a, because if he was smart he'd still be able to use that and ctrl + c to copy text (however, if he's just copying your html the right click one would suffice. sometimes there's a way to get around the simple right click scripts so if you try one and he still is stealing your stuff, pm me and i can see if i can scrounge up a script that will totally lock the right click function... hope you figure it out.... i too know how annoying it is to have people sticking their noses into your xanga when you don't want them around... best of luck!

thanks but now he doesn't use copy and paste and just copies the exact wording somehow probalbly paper and pencil. The most annoying thing is he gets more hits and eprops than me, and now he's coping my skin i found.

Either use an HTML encoder, or disable right-click+hightlighting.

To solve your problem...
Make a new xanga and don't tell your friend about it. Just tell the friends that you want them to know and also tell them not to tell your jocker friend about that site before you give out your new site :D |
