Why do people ask questions that they already know the answer to?

i also agree. just to make conversation...or to confirm what the person thinks is the answer (depending on the situation of the question)

that's what magneto asked professor x in the beginning (i think) of x-men...i forgot wat professor x said pinch.gif

but anyway i think everyone's wrong, people don't ask questions they know the answer to because their stupid _dry.gif it's because they want to know what the other person will say and if that person will be truthful

for example, my boyfriend is kind of iffy about our future because of my past...so he asks me things he's asked me before to see if i say the same thing or change my story

Ok let me be more specific, I'm not talking about the stupid questions to start a conversation. I'm talking about the "Should I ..." kind of questions. Everyone asks those questions so much, but deep down they already know the answer. Maybe people do it for support and assurance.

^ Exactly. People post here on the relationships forum, asking for advice. But really, there is only 1 ultimate answer to their desired outcome. They know what the ultimate answer is already (most of them) and really just post here so they can get encouragement and reassurance.
