QUOTE(uninspiredfae @ Sep 20 2004, 7:07 PM) Down here? How down can you be? I'm in Houston TX, you wouldn't be any more in the South than I already am. I wouldn't use those words if I knew the person I'm conversing with is older than I. Oh yes, people would send themselves to Hell, like they have the power to do that ![]() How can you say that non-believers send themselves to Hell? I don't get that logic. J'ai su que vous comprendriez. Tres bon! Et "FYI", je sais un peu Espagnol. your from texas..when i said down here its a saying for where i live not how south i em lol lol by the way im in miami florida ok lol....besides you would use those words if you lived where i lived ok black pple tend to use different slangs( im not black by the way) i hope you understand what im trying to say ...and how old are u by the way? non believers send themselves to hell bcuz they wont accept what god has given them...yea its hard rules and dont do this and that ...but im sure its not a big deal to accept eternal salvation...god doesnt go oh ok im gonna send this guy 2 hell and this one 2 heaven...its upp to the person 2 choose what his decision in life is... |

Going to heaven isnt about the morality of any religion it is about a relationship with God.
QUOTE Like whoa it's fire and brimstone for you boy. What did the bible preach? Something about turning the other cheek? Why didn't Jesus fight back again? Why did Jesus warn the other deciples not to fight back? Hush maaan. You're giving religion a bad name like any other hypocrite that doesn't practice what they preach. not practice what i preach? Jesus didn't fight back because never was a time when he needed to. he warned them not to fight back because they were officers of the law that didn't contradict God's plan. you turn the other cheek but what does it say to do after that? nothing. self-defense isnt a sin. There are many times when God had the Jews use violence. There is nothing wrong with it. murder is wrong though. QUOTE Excuse me, it's like you're saying everyone who isn't Christian will go out and kill everyone or something. I know PLENTY of people who are completely and utterly Atheist but wouldn't even think about killing someone. In fact, if the whole world was run by Atheists I think it would run just the same way. I'm not Christian, but I have a lot of the same morals that religion preaches. I won't go out and kick someone's ass just because I don't have the guidance of something "perfect." Christianity isn't an organized religion? Helloooo? Did you even TRY to listen in eighth grade Socials class? There was something called the Crusades. You know. The thing where people ran out of their homes and killed thousands of Muslims just for the sake of going to heaven? False morals, my friend, false morals. As far as I'm concerned, if everyone on this planet were Christian, there still would be no world peace. Just like I said before, if we were all Atheists there still wouldn't be world peace, but certainly no World War III. So what if you're not perfect? You learn from your mistakes. I haven't been guided by God and I'm still perfectly moral and humane. But not "perfect." There's nothing wrong with being "imperfect." I would appreciate it if you would be more respectful of other people's beliefs, and not insult them in that way you do. Im almost certain you aren't talking about something i said. I haven't said anything that even resembles that. going to heaven has nothing to do with morals. If there was nothing wrong with being imperfect then why is it imperfect? What is wrong with a WW3? I am respectful of other peoples beliefs, but remember this is the debate section. Christianity is an organized religion, but it takes the focus off of God at times when the doctrine isn't followed. When it all boils down christianity teaches that you do not need anyone but God to go to heaven. works have nothing to do with your entrance. QUOTE Oh yes, people would send themselves to Hell, like they have the power to do that . I would send myself to Heaven, too, if it were a choice and if I believed in it. But for some dog-gone reason, it's not in one's hands to be in Heaven or Hell, it's God's. It is in your hands. And it is not believing in it. It is believing in him and acting on that belief. I believe i can win a game of basketball but if i dont get out there and play im not going to win. |

I believe i can win a game of basketball but if i dont get out there and play im not going to win. You can get out there and play the game but that doesn't mean that you'll win for sure. Don't get so cocky now ![]() Anyway, it isn't in my hands. God gave me free will, and made me choose for myself. I choose partial disbelief (because of Deistic influences), but then I am said to have chosen wrong. It is out of my hands, because I no matter what I choose I am wrong, and must go back to God and do what He tells me to do. This means no free will, which goes against His gift. So, to believe would be throwing His great Gift back in His face because I'm not choosing for myself, I'm letting Him choose for me. |

you are the little temptress aren't you omg_melface.
you have the choice between right and wrong. you have the choice whether or not to go back to God. No matter how you look at it, you still can choose what you wanna do be it going to heaven or going to hell. Just because everything other that God is wrong doesn't make it anyless of a choice. |

You have more choices than right and wrong. You do not end your life with the wrong choice, nor can always you achieve success with the right choice. Lets say we are given two glasses of water: one poisoned, one pure water. If God loved us, then why did He gave poison as a choice? We wouldn't choose poisonous water if we had proof of which glass contained it. |

Let's try another thing.
Why do you love? What's the use of love, to you? Is it just an urge to continue the human species, or are we humans special? And if special, why are we special? |

QUOTE(espionage @ Sep 21 2004, 8:28 PM) Let's try another thing. Why? Because you can't answer to my comment? QUOTE Why do you love? What's the use of love, to you? Is it just an urge to continue the human species, or are we humans special? And if special, why are we special? We love because it is in our nature, just as it is in our nature to hate, and be envious, greedy... etc. The use of love in general is balance. Love holds a different meaning to each person so the following does not pertain to everyone but myself: Love can be simple or complicated, strong-willed or weak-minded. How we love, lightly or passionately, gives a hint to who we are. If humans do not love, humans do not survive because humans wouldn't have a sense of self or belonging. We're special because we're capable of emotion, and I can say the same about many animals. Thus, we're all special in some way. Someone who is not capable of love is a threat, but that doesn't mean we can't teach him/her to love. I love to be able to live. But it is that I am able to CHOOSE how to love and who to love that makes me happy, and the same can be said about you loving God. |

Love is not in our nature. Love comes only from God.
QUOTE Lets say we are given two glasses of water: one poisoned, one pure water. If God loved us, then why did He gave poison as a choice? I can answer this one. Have you ever seen the princess bride? We can only assume the poison is in both glasses because there is no way to tell what kind of man the masked man is. We must depend on our immunity granted by God. |

QUOTE(sikdragon @ Sep 22 2004, 2:09 AM) Love is not in our nature. Love comes only from God. I cannot rebuttal that fully with my belief because I believe the same, but from an Atheist point of view, it IS in our nature. Love comes from chemical reactions which makes perfect sense to me. With my concept, love is in our nature because love is experience. You cannot love something that you do not have experiences with, expections, or memories of it. Therefore, it's in our nature to learn to love. Of course, love is many things, not just feelings between man and woman. QUOTE I can answer this one. Have you ever seen the princess bride? We can only assume the poison is in both glasses because there is no way to tell what kind of man the masked man is. We must depend on our immunity granted by God. I've seen only 10 minutes of the movie from a girl's night out long ago. Anyway, I have said that many prayers go unanswered. So, you would have to wait in a long line for God to grant you such an immunity, but you'd be dead by then. Perhaps you'll be with Him quicker that way. I don't know. |

it isnt their time. If God constantly answers all prayers in the time asked for people would become dependant, without faith.

QUOTE(sikdragon @ Sep 24 2004, 5:36 PM) it isnt their time. If God constantly answers all prayers in the time asked for people would become dependant, without faith. ... It isn't their time for what? If God answers the essential prayers, the ones that would actually matter like saving lives or stopping wars, then that would make sense. Why help those who already have enough wealth to last two lifetimes? Why not help those who has nothing? |

Every situation is different and he is dealing with them as such. I can't speak for him I can only explain that he has a plan.

Your answers sum up what I had said all along.........
![]() ![]() ![]() I said, you'd have to wait in a long line to get your prayers answered. Meaning, He's taking His time before getting to your prayer. |

I don't know about you, but if that's a plan, then He doesn't need to do much because some of the world is already doing a great job in killing each other. ![]() |

QUOTE(rainnydaiis @ Sep 28 2004, 11:14 PM) Maybe it was planned for them to die.. Because everyone always die... they can't live forever... it was just their time If only it was that simple. Dude, people don't usually just die. Many suffer hardships their whole life before they suffer a painful death. If it were just death, than I don't have any problems with it. But the point isn't just death, it's suffering that is out of our hands and death that has me bonkers. |
