<MAP NAME='imgmap'>
<AREA SHAPE='rect' COORDS='#'s' HREF='URL TO TAKE THE ALIENS, I MEAN HUMANS TO'>

To add more:

I'm suggesting you're talking about floating DIV's? You could do something like:
CODE
<div style="position:absolute;width:200px;height:200px;top:0px;left:0px;z-index:1">
<a href="link">link.</a>
</div>

That would make a floating link, if that's what you wanted. The left and top coordinates are just the measures of pixels from the top or the left of the document. They are site specific, so they differ from site to site, depending on where you want it to be. This one would display it in the exact top corner.
