Persident Bush as Time's 'Person of the Year', what do you all think of it?

This year, Time Magazine has chosen President Bush as "Person of the Year."

Do you feel he deserves that title? Why or why not? Their articles about him pose an excellent argument, but I still would like to hear your opinions. I personally am appalled, but that's just me.

Sorry about the big mess-up on the name. it was supposed to be president, not 'persident.' Dang, I've edited this post 4 times in a row!

Even Hitler was TIME Man of the Year once...

And another Nazi too, Erich von Manstein (this was actually during WWII):

yes, bush was quite infuential on new this year.

but year 2001, the person of the year was rudy guilliani, when it clearly should have been osama bin laden.

politics does inflluence the choice.

Well, I think he is a good president. I don't think he is good enough to deserve Person of the Year because he has had his faults, but he made them up. Very nicely might I add.

He has his stupid moments, but that just goes to show that noone is perfect and I like a president that isn't the smartest person in the world. It lets the people know that he isn't some hi tech robot from Swansakiga. (whatever that is happy.gif )

I totally agree with everything he does. Doesn't deserve it but is definately a great president and person.

yeah, it's not "Who made the world a better place" it's "Who f**ked things up the most for better or for worse" and bush definitely deserves that title. emphasis on "worse" though.

Oh, sorry. I didn't know it meant that. "Person of the Year" makes it sound like well....person of the year? Sorry about the confusion. blink.gif

no, jason, just because he won the election doesnt make him the "most highest-class" (youre killing me) person. even if he were the "most highest-class person", that doesnt mean he necessarily the best or most influential person.

I personally think that even though he's the president, he really effed up things in this country. We're hated by the entire world, so his foreign policy is well, really, really crappy. Plus, he friggin' bankrupted the U.S. treasury, and he lied about WMDs in Iraq, so we know that he's only going to war for oil. Oh, and did I mention that he set the record for the highest deficit ever made by a U.S. president???? (It was tough to beat Reagan, but he did it!!) Over $5,000,000,000! Let's also talk about how, according to a Gallup poll, he had a 53% approval rating after the election. That seems pretty good, if you don't mention the fact that's it's the lowest approval rating ever for a U.S. president after an election!

And, yet, he's not willing to admit any of those mistakes. But I'm sure he's a really nice guy! Let's give it to him anyway! _dry.gif

i think tho, this is really crap. not because of any of bush's politics and stuff, because he didn't influence news the most...

it's most likely kerry... there were tons more time issues about kerry than about bush...

needless to say if kerry had won the election, and had gotten two more months of news, he would have won.

it's either kerry or saddam hussein, becuase of his caputure.

bush just isn't in the news that much...

Bush getting it is fine with me. He did break records with his second term so why not? Just because you don't like him doesn't mean he doesn't deserve it.
