ours sucked at the beginning of the season, because most of the guard was freshmen/new, so they didnt know what they were doing, but they got a helluvalot better, and won our class 2 out of 3 times. we didnt win anything at lassiter, but thats because we were competitng against the best bands in the state, and it was our first competition

we dont have a dance team. we have a step team. theyre kind of frightening. last year they got rid of them because they were innappropriate, but this year theyre back and as obnoxious as ever, but with several extremely plus sized qirls *shudder* the entire thing is black. nothing wrong with that, but not a whole lot of diversity

yah i have a lot of respect for colorguards, I think it's hard to be able to move flags and throw em up in the air and catch them n' shit. YOu need a lot of hand and eye cordination...

colorguard = JROTC cadets bearing the flags and colors of the school / country. colorguard sux.
Drill Team = JROTC cadets that show honor, integrity, and other leadership traits. drillteam rocks in other words, i'm not talkin bout band stuff, and i'm Pro- Drill Team. ^only applies to schools with ROTC |

lmao. i love making fun of drill team. they look so overly retarded. and they have the most ridiculous makeup.
i was thinking, to they get tested over counting? cuz theyre voices all sound EXACTLY the same when counting "one! three! five! seven!" sorry, but its hilarious. |

COLORGUARD IS HAWT. (: Mainly because I'm in it! Our guard had an AMAZING field season. We placed sweeps and first and high auxilary at all of our competitions. I can't wait until Winterguard! I might post pictures sometime of Arcadia CG. (:

WHAT IS COLORGUARD??? Color guard is spending 15 to 20 hours a week marching up and down a football field or on a 50 by 70 foot area spinning a 3 1/2 pound rifle or a 5 1/2 foot flag. It's your free time to strive for perfection and hearing; "That's wrong! Pay attention! Try harder!" over and over. It is riding countless hours on cold bumpy buses and eating in more fast food restaurants than you care to remember. Sometimes you march with blisters on your feet, splints on your fingers, when you're sick or when every muscle in your body aches. It means being willing to try again even though you have just suffered a defeat, tears are streaming down your face and your heart is breaking. Then another Saturday night come! Judges, instructors, other guards, and 500 or 600 spectators are waiting for your performance. For five or six minutes, every ounce of your strength and concentration are dedicated to making our family, friends, school, and town proud of your competitive unit. The demanding, endless hours of practice have been a prelude to this moment. There is the hope in your heart, "Please, let this one be ours!" But color guard is much more than work and intense competition. It is closeness between young people that cannot be described. There's two colorguards.
A colorguard that has to do with a rotc/jrotc program. And a colorguard that has to do with a band. The colorguard with rotc/jrotc is the one holding the american flag, the rotc/jrotc flag, and rifles on the sides. The colorguard with the band, is usually just a group of guys or girls dancing in front of the band, with flags. Usually the flags bear the color patterns of the school colors. |
