Brush question plzz help....!! Options

I donno y like when i stamp the brush on a picture, n i cant see a thing, unless i go to fade brush tool and then select the "normal" mode, and whenver i stamp another brush, i have to do the same thing over again, how do i make the normal mode stay there, and not the "soft light" mode.? so i dont have to keep on doing it back n forth? thanks alot!!
