Run up behind him and kind of jump on him, while hugging.
But don't overdo it and make him crash down on the ground.  Or you can just do it when you two are talking, even with your friends around. It's sweet.

is this your first time hugging a guy or your boyfriend for that matter??... i hug everyone. anyways, just do it. if you plan it out, well that seems kind of lame. just do is spontaneously. if he is your boyfriend it should come naturally anyways.. i mean if when to hug him is a difficult question then i can`t imagine about when you want to kiss him.

well.. my advice.. just hug ur boyfriend as if u were hugging one of ur frds. naturally. like its no big deal. i was like u before. scared to hug the guy i liked. but i ended up huggin him one time.. even when i didnt even plan to. and luckily he hugged me back
and that wasnt the last time either. just hug him like he was one of ur friends. and also.. dont run up to him.. because some guys find that intimidating. trust me. i have a friend who runs up when she comes and hugs me. and i find it kinda weird. so yea. good luck! ^^

man im sorry people are so rude saying oh man hugging ur sad for trying to plan it. different actions mean different things to people. i think hugging is a big deal especially because it is usually the first intimate thing you do w/ your boyfriend. i think that if you wait till goodbye or if he says or does something sweet that it is a perfect time. because if you think its weird (like he didnt want a hug) then your saying goodbye anyway it wont be awkward. if you two are going out, he is probably wanting a hug so it should be fine. im sure it will go well. and maybe hell hug you first!! good luck
