I think there might be other threads on this, but I only listen to a couple emo bands, and mostly death metal and punk music.

well, there's the obvious: Dashboard Confessional and Something Corporate. hmm. ::thinking:: Taking Back Sunday, Further Seems Forever, The Promise Ring, Brand New, Thrice, and Bright Eyes... among others...

Many of my friends are hardcore emo: black, tight shirts and pants, with long hair

The music is alright, but I prefer rock

Emo!! =] Awesome. Soco and TBS for sure. Does Yellowcard count as emo?..I like them though. And there's Thrice, Finch, The Promise Ring, The Starting Line, and a bunch of others. And screamo is awesome too, especially for you know, screaming to LoL...=]

Something Corporate is probably my favorite emo band, but for the most part I like the pop-punk, upbeat stuff. I've also currently been obsessed with Cheap Trick, I found my live at Budokan cd today happy.gif

savage garden is a lame excuse for a boy band...there not emo there corprate sellouts....

Hmm Finch does some screamo...Like in "What It Is To Burn." Other emo/screamo bands I like definately include The Beautiful Mistake and Matchbook Romance, emocore man LoL. Thursday and Rufio too. I used to not like Rufio but they grew on me. Blink-182 is great but they're very quote mainstream endquote, and I don't know, maybe being like that kind of makes them mold their music to what people want...But then again who's to say that other bands don't? None the less Blink is still awesome.

LoL Good question, how would a person define emo? I mean...I've always thought of it as short for "emotion," and emo is filled with alotta emotion. Just...It has guitar and sounds rock-ish except it talks about breaking up and leaving and stuff...Sort of.

yah it is short for "emotion" but to put it in somthing that makes more sense is like...

well you like music with a meaning.

that you can well....relate to.

i love the beautiful mistake and matchbook romance...but there more regular emo...try cheak out alexis on fire or from autumn to ashes or silverstein...silverstein is awsome...

heh all those bands you named arent emo. lp and sp are pop/punk and evanescence is rock.

lol ok my fav bands are bright eyes, brand new, taking back sunday, funeral for a friend, the starting line, uhmm underoath if they are emo... and coheed and cambria =] there are way more but i dont feel like listing them all hehe.gif
