I absolutly hate it when people call other people "posers". It doesn't make any sence. Who are we to judge what people should be? I see a lot of people saying "People pretending to be what they are not" who are we to judge who they are? and how they should dress, or act, or what they listen to. If you want a nose ring then you wan't a nose ring and you like them.. you dont have to be "punk" to get one. If you like sweaters, then wear them.. you don't have to be "preppy". I don't see how a person can be posing if they really like something. Another word I can't stand and is used so freely is the word "fake" .. he's so fake, shes so fake.. I don't understand how someone can be fake.. If your doing it, then its totally real.. If your saying it then its real and its happening. Fake is something that is not real. If your doing something then your doing it because thats the kind of person you are, so how is that fake? even if your "pretending to be something your not..." (ex. If you don't have much money but you act like your aristocratic) If your doing it then your doing it because thats the kind of person you are, so how is taht fake?

totally repeted myself a few times, but its all good... Sorry for the rant.. just a pet peeve of mine :-)

well i have two different definitions.
1) pretending to be someone/thing you're not ex. goth, punk when really you're just a prep TRYING to be a goth, punk, etc.
2) posing for the camera a lot; seeking attention sometimes

^^ yup like a skater who doesn't know how to skate pinch.gif

trying too hard to fulfill certain expectations for a certain label, i suppose. basically, being someone you're not with motives such as respect, appearing "deep," nonconformity, belonging, etc. personally, i don't have a problem with so-called "posers." it's not like they're bothering me in anyway.

people who like good charlotte and call them punk. punk is a lifestyle biatch. wannabes.

Your face is a poser.

Don't go thinking you're punk just because you can call some one else is a poser.

Oh, um. And for the what I think is a poser..

Well, I think that a poser is anyone who tries to be something they aren't. Some one who only acts the way they do because they want to be accepted or for some other bullshit reason.

Like... white people who act "ghetto". People are constantly bugging them, because they're not "being themselves". What makes them posers, if that's truly how they are? Just because the stereotypical white person doesn't listen to rap and act like the stereotypical black person doesn't mean that they aren't being themselves. (This whole paragraph isn't really related)

Anyway, if you think Good Charlotte is punk, well. Good for you. That doesn't make you a poser. If you think Good Charlotte is punk and that by listening to them, you are punk also.. Well, that's just wrong. I don't know where I'm going with this. If you only listen to Good Charlotte and/or dress up in "punk" clothing because you want to be cool and/or accepted by the "punk" crowd, that'd make you a poser.

Yeah.

being something you are not.

i personally dont really like good charlotte. I hate it when people say "oh, i hate good charlotte because they are punk." Well they are not. Sure if you look at them, you would think they are punks. But they are not. they just dress how they want too.

I'm a student who was raised into a metal family, well on my fathers side. My step mom was a huge Cannibal Corpse fan, and liked the hardcore metal stuff at that time, but listened to the older speed/thrash metal Ex:Motorhead, Napalm Death. Well I was also raised up listening to Insane Clown Posse, from my older brother before he went into the black underground, <---The underground style of rap where it's black people being ghetto and shyt. Well I listening to both got accustomed to both, and continued to listen to them when I was at my moms house. Now as i'm older I consider myself a Hardcore metal fan, and a Juggalo. I wear mostly generic/no name black clothes, I have the occasional Tripp/Kikwear/Caffine pants/shorts but only like 3 pair that i've used for about three years alltogether. But I get called a poser from the rich kids who went from "Prep" to "Goth"/"Punk" over the weekend. Most of these kids are the rich kids who used to brag about how much money he brought each day, like who cares? But I get called a poser by people who think Slipknot or MM are the most hardcore bands there is, or think these are the bands you have to listen to or you're mainstream. Um, if you haven't noticed the Slipknot is played on the radio quite regularly, almost half of Subliminal Verses is on the radio. Parts of Iowa, and Wait and Bleed from Self-titled are on the radio constantly. And MM he gets some video play and radio play also. I mean I think these bands are good for the music they play, but it's not goth music. Gothic music is The Cure, Bauhaus and others such as those. I cannot consider myself goth because Goth grew from those bands, I also don't want to consider myself goth, because people then use the P word. It's stupid how people think Hot Topic is underground, and if they dress in Hot Topic garb they are "Goth". Well to break the ground for you they are not mainstream, far from it. Hot Topic is a branch of The Gap. Yes, I said it, Hot Topic is owned and runned by The Gap. So you can't say that I buy myclothes online to a place that a thousand people have visited in the entire time it's been online, that i'm mainstream, you, buying stuff every weekend from Hot Topic are the mainstream groupie. I like the color black because it helps express the music i'm intrested in. I also know somone is going to say, ICP/Twiztid or the psychopathic label isn't underground, Well, how many of their videos are allowed on MTV? Launch only has three videos, I believe Cannibal Corpse outnumbers them in videos. And ICP has a buschel of music videos. They cannot be mainstream, I mean yes their are probably multiple hundereds thousands of fans , but then again, how many millions are fans of Slipknot? So, all I have to say, if you're really all about the music dress to the style of music, but if you go to hot topic and buy them out and listen to Good Charlotte and only Slipknot, don't call me a poser because I don't spend my money on the clothes. I spend it on what's important, the music, you can't be part of a subculture if you aren't about the music. Oh, for the record you can't say you're part of a subculture such as "Goth" or "Punk" if you are about the music and are true, you will develop the behavior/attitude/and clothing style, then people will recognize you as real and not a "Poser"
