Does it ever annoy you to hear people like Avril or Ashlee Simpson called "punk?" It really ticks me off. Or hearing bands like Good Charlotte or Blink 182 [I love them] being called punk? I can't stand it! I'm saying this on behalf of one of the latest xanga skins. I know its just a label, but its human nature to label. But sometimes you just need to get the name right. And if your not sure, don't say anything.

get the frick over it and stop whining. yeah, they're not so punk. your point? maybe other people think they are. it depends how you interpret the music.

also, we've had a bunch of threads on this subject. please don't remake threads.

almost all of you guys are being stereotypical, and i dont mean to offend anyone... but EVERYONE labels EVERYTHING. someone who listens to hip hop and rap "isn't allowed" to wear pants decorated with buckles and zippers. they would be labeled a "poser". and all this good charlotte, ashley simpson, avril lavigne business... they all dress in the "punk" style of clothing, but their music is more pop-rock than anything. the definition of punk is actually someone who is a rebel, who goes against the mainstream. Nowadays, the word "punk" describes someone who is a mainstream rocker...

just listen to the music you like and forget what the media has labeled it as... who cares if its punk or not??

,Nov 20 2004, 1:14 PM] you just said you hate labels .. yet you say you hate posers.... youre confused ....

i dont care.. i hate it when they label it punk too, but its music, just let it go.... and i friggin HATE when people say poser, or call people posers. THERES NO POINT in it... god people should get to be who they want without being called something..

and ashlee simpson 'oh im punk im not a poser' ticks me off ...

and marilyn person. you make me hateyou for what you say....

i dont like ashlee or avril, but whatever. thrue punk died.. a long time ago.. you'll see a few people that will make you gasp theyre so cool, but call them punk if you wish.. they would NEVER call themselves punk

im gonna go because im making no sense and getting mad..

edit//
true MUSIC LOVERS listen to ALL kinds of music. and shouldnt be held back by some dtupid label that a 12 year old kid gave them, because they hve no life and have no selfesteem as to make fun of someone for how they look

Wut I mean by I hate labeling is that I hate it when people say "EWWW! Look at those punk rockers" or "EWWW! Look at those thugs & their hip-hop! Those hip-hop hoodlums!", that's wut I mean by I hate labeling. Like labeling sumone just cuz they like sumthing to the core. And wut I mean by I hate posers is that they try 2 be like those "punk rockers" & those "Hip-hopers", as they would call them, just cuz they think it's "cool", and all of a sudden change their old ways & their old self just 2 be part of that group.
Like there wuz this chick that I used 2 see whe I used 2 go 2 highskool, like the first semester, she wuz a "rocker" cuz all her friends were "rockers". Then She changed friends, and tried 2 dress all "ghetto hip-hop" cuz her "new friends" dressed that way. U don't have 2 change urself 2 make friends...and this is a PERFECT example of a poser, cuz now she's in the "rockabilly" (as they would call it) stage, & I just think that's so stoopid.
Now U didn't have 2 use such a strong word as "hate" cuz U don't even knoe me...and I'm tempted 2 say "biotch" cuz I'm listening 2 old skool Snoop, but I don't mean it.
Does that clear up things a little better now person that hates me???
