It depends on how you decide to view on things.

The only reason anything happens is because humans think about something to do, and the brain sends nerve signals to parts of the body. Then your limbs start working - oh, how miraculous!!! Then you start doing stuff with your flailing limbs, and things start to happen MIRACULOUSLY.

^ sarcasm.

No, I don't think things happen for "reasons". I think people who say that are just people who don't want humans to take responsibility for what they do. Because everything that happens is created by PEOPLE, not some unknown force that controls our every move.

As for my motto:

As for my motto:

That would be a false statement. I agreed with you, as I had written almost the same thing, until you said that everything happens because of humans. There are elements that happen that are out of any humans grasp. Cancer, Tornadoes, etc. In those situations no human is responsible, except sometimes with cancer.

Okay, I agree. Humans don't WANT cancer to happen, nor are they capable of conjuring up tornadoes. But there are reasons for tornadoes happening, are there not? There are scientific studies, good, hard evidence. Tornadoes happen for reasons. Cancer happens for reasons. Reasons that can be backed up with evidence. What I should have said is that everything that happens can be backed up with true "reason", and not emotional "reasons". (see definition in next paragraph).

It's kind of weird to me how people overuse this phrase, "everything happens for a reason". Reason is the ability to think criticially and draw logical conclusions. Most of the "reasons" people use for that phrase are not logical at all.

I don't want to seem like an emotional prude or anything, but I think that humans can take control of whatever they do, and we shouldn't go and think that things happen without our knowing.

existentialism.

Main Entry: ex·is·ten·tial·ism
Pronunciation: -'ten(t)-sh&-"li-z&m
Function: noun
: a chiefly 20th century philosophical movement embracing diverse doctrines but centering on analysis of individual existence in an unfathomable universe and the plight of the individual who must assume ultimate responsibility for his acts of free will without any certain knowledge of what is right or wrong or good or bad

That is my take on things.
