The average person inhales so little secondhand smoke over a lifetime that it's hard to pin the exact cause of cancer on secondhand smoke.

and, actually, i have done research and i've seen no cases of lung cancer or any type of cancer, for that matter, that were attributed to secondhand smoke.

iites, my turn.

i rlly dont think smoking would b ban, we'd end up in another Prohobition-like nation.

crime rates increased bak in the 1930's when prohobition was introduced sadly, cuz pplz were VERY ADDICTED to alcohol. crime rates would possibly increase if smoking was banned. i would think smoking shouldn't have ever been invented, the only thing society can do is help smokers quit.

**EDIT**

interesting debate, by the way.

aye, some of u r so naive

i TA 4 a health teacher 4 nearly 3 years, i kno this stuff

2nd hand smoke kills. My teachers grandma died from cancer that she got from the 2nd hand smoke from my teachers grandpa. he still ived 20 yrs after her death. imagine the pain he went through. he didnt die from it cause he had a special gene that allowed him 2 not get cancer of the lungs.

now if u not gunna change something about smoking and 2nd and smoke, r u willing 2 kill someone u love over a nasty habit? u have 2 live wit the rest of ur life knowing u took a life when u could have stopped.

if u wanna kill urself and put tar in ur lungs, have bad breath permentantly, ultimately get lung cancer, shortness of breath cause the tiny lil air sacks bursts, etc, thats fine, u chose to do that, and not make the non smoker suffer.

first off, there is no special gene that allows you to not get cancer.

because when DNA divides, the ends are shortened. each division shortens them. the only cells that build them up again are cancer cells and stem cells.

so his lungs are... cancer or stem cells... both of which cannot allow for gass exchange.

I really really have a pet peeve for ppl who smoke..but..
you can't change ppl's choice by one law..we have so MUCh
laws and everyone breaks them everyday. ppl who smoke
just have to realize that they are cutting their life short everytime
they take a puff and it's THEIR choice to give it up...

altho it would be nice if most ppl would stop.. ermm.gif

at this point you can't ban it. there are to many people in that industry and many people would lose their jobs and the job rate would go straight down again. also there are many older citizens that have been addicted so long that if they quit it might kill them.

Smoking or non. I don't care. As long as they don't smoke around me, or try and get me to.

I don't care if people go off killing themsleves. That is their business, they should know what consequences are going to be upheld before they start.

Other than that, Don't worry about it.

We have our freedom, smoke your heart out, it doesn't matter....

smoking is horrible, but it shouldn't be banned. if you made it illegal, people will still do it. it's an addiction, making it illegal won't make people stop.

but that doesn't mean it doesn't suck!

No it isn't. Did you know that second hand smoke actually does more harm than actually smoking itself?

Well, I don't really think it should be banned. Think of all of the problems that would be caused. I mean, if people are dumb enough to smoke and risk their health, well it's their choice. And it's not like if smoking cigs were made illegal would stop people from doing it.

it is true that ppl have a right 2 do wat they want, but when that right begins 2 harm others or put others in danger, u no longer have that right.

and Frankie_08 is rite. Phillip morris(i think its them, not sure) is one of the leading cigarrette distributors and they own many companies that are quite powerful, such as kraft. if you take down phillip morris, you take down those companies as well and it will most likely bring our economy down severly.
