why are turtles walk so slow? what makes them so slow? because they have small feets or is it because they're just dumb?

Turtles aren't dumb. And they aren't the only things that are slow either.. that's a kind of silly question.. wouldn't you be slow if you had to carry a shell bigger than your whole body on your back?

I don't know. Sloths are slower but they don't have to deal with any shell. Maybe it's...a hormone? Look it up, psht. We're no scientists.

Sloths move slow to avoid predators.. like birds, because birds watch out for sudden movements.

we learned this in Science last trimester..they walk so slow because they have a heavy as x_angawhomps was saying, the shell's purpose is to hide from predators, making turtles slow _smile.gif yes, turtles aren't the only slow animals..i mean..look at snails

well i think mayb cus they're on land, i heard that they swim fast when they're in water? huh.gif not sure but oh wells i love the really tiny turtles, they're so cute! but too bad it brings dieases, or else i would had one ;]

I have no clue...maybe their shells are too heavy or something...now that you mentioned turtles..i wonder what happened to the ones in my pond..i never see them anymore.
