I think the person that is getting married should have the right to choose. It's their life; not the parents'. |

Well, first of all, it can't be in debate because it's a poll. Polls are not allowed in debate. Secondly, I think the person getting married should be the one to decide on who they should marry. But then again, they wouldn't be too happy if their parents didn't like the person they wanted to marry. But they wouldn't be happy if they married a person they had no interest in. So I say, it's better for them to just follow what their heart decides.

I think we should be able to choose who we marry. Cause if the parents do then it's like they're choosing the rest of your life, since your going to spend the rest of your life with that person. And if you don't like that person then that would not be cool. So marrying who you want to spend the rest of your life is somthing we should choose not our parents or anyone else.

I believe the person should marry whoever they want. It's their choice. THEIR the one that's getting married to that person. NOT their parents. However, it would be nice if the parents are alright with the person their child is getting married to, but even if the parents disapprove, I think it's their child's right to marry whoever they want.

yeah i think the person who's getting married should make the decision. firstly its their life, and if they are at the age to be getting married, they should be in charge and make their own choices. yes the parents may not approve, but so what? yeah they may look down on it but if they loved you they'd come around and get over it and be happy that you're happy.

and what if your parents give you reasons like he's not suitable for you because of difference in social standards, cultures, race, religion, money, etc? statics prove that people are divorcing more often now that some of them choose who they marry. whats your opinion bout that?

i believe you should have the right to choose. the only problem is many people don't want their parents being ashamed of them, so they choose who their parents want them to marry. but marriage is about love and commitment. so if you love the person and want to spend the rest of your life with them then you should be easily committed and do whatever you want.
