Morrigan, the daughter of Ernmas Prophesized the end of the world before the ninth century A.D. According to Celtic Folklore. this is a from a pagan peoples, but yet it confirms the account in the The Revelation in the Christian Bible.

"I shall not see a world
Which will be dear to me:
Summer without blossoms,
Cattle will be without milk,
Women without modesty,
Men without valor.
Conquests without a king . . .
Woods without mast.
Sea without produce. . . .
False judgements of old men.
False precedents of lawyers,
Every man a betrayer.
Every son a reaver.
The son will go to the bed of his father,
The father will go to the bed of his son.
Each his brother's brother-in-law.
He will not seek any woman outside his house. . . .
An evil time,
Son will deceive his father,
Daughter will deceive . . ."

Tell me does that seem very far off base?

Very off base from what? The contemporary word?

Not really but we've got a LONG while to go before we match the the poem/song word for word. However, isn't it the same way, morality wise, a decade ago? A century ago?

"Bad stuff happens when people lack morality."

That's been every prophecy since... ever! It has nothing to do with the physical end of the world, perhaps just the weakening and collapse of society.

Our society currently shows few signs of imminent collapse.

It speaks of not just moral corruption and exhaustion but of physical depletion of resources, not from just use but misuse and bad treatment. Dont look at it from just the moral stand point. And no it was not then as it was said. This recitation was so far out there for the tribes of which heard it and passed it on. What is with the word prophecy that makes people the most skeptical? How many throughout the ages have been fulfilled and forgotten due to misdirection selfishness and corruption. Men may be granted dreams and visions from sources external to our physical world, but their accountability of them or their people is not taken into account of their condemnation. blind rejection is the same prosecution galileo recieved. The same craziness that was placed on every man who denied the impossibility of a dream. Placed on men who defy what binds others. how can one remove the seed from anothers eye while there is a moat in your own. When the blind lead the blind both parties fall into the ditch. blind hatred, rejection, and discrimination are all seeds of destruction and death.

this doesn't speak of moral corruption... it's the near extinction of man, where only one family is left.

*Sigh*.

Prophecy can sometimes be confused with simple analyzing. If your grandfather, your father, and you drink out of one well, it will dry up. If you keep on using the same land to grow your crop every year without nourishing it, the land will be useles after years of use. The same can be said for all resources, long term wise. People are not stupid then, they know this and we know this now.

Corruption is in the heart of everyone and cannot be removed, thus this is the main factor that makes us imperfect. To be imperfect is perfectly human. We have been corrupted throughout the ages. This isn't anything new.

What I read in the song/poem that have been passed down for generations is nothing that an intelligent person cannot perceive. We understand morality for what it is and, therefore, we understand what lack of morality will bring.

I don't see much of prophesizing in there. I just see observation of what has been happening for ages, and what will continue to happen.'

"Women without modesty"... There are sluts in every century and every corner of the earth.

I apologize, this prophecy was written as a poem and as such is interpreted in many different ways. To grasp it's full meaning or atleast a good part of it, would be too much for all of you so someone just close this.

no not stupid, just uncomprehending. The full meaning elludes us all.

Yes i am superior to you when it comes to poetry. Everyone has their thing, and this isn't yours. You can read the lines perfectly, but when it comes to this, you need to read between the lines.

Oh yes your Superiorness. You are far more advance in analyzing language even though my poor humble skills have only gotten me through the works of Plato, Socrates, Paine, Nietzsche... etc. You must be beyond their skills as well, your Sickness, I mean Sik-ness.
