is it really complicated?

b/c i look at different host's criteria for hostees and it always says "MUST be proficient/skilled/etc in html, php, and whatnot" and they make it sound so scary.

i mean. how "proficient/skilled/etc" is "proficient/skilled/etc"? b/c i look at some ppl's subdomains and they dont seem to do jack shit better than i can do. yet i've never tried to apply for one b/c i'm scared of the word "proficient/skilled/etc".

well different hosts have different standards... if you know the basics and a little extra, you're probably good to go... besides, it's really the aesthetics that count. if you create a gorgeous layout, but it's badly coded... no one'll kill you ;x

and what trish said, from what i've seen of your work, you can easily get accepted ';o

Yea, that criteria DOES scare me! But i have my own domain, so I don't care anymore.

Just go out and apply. If you don't know FTP, go to pick-me.net and search through all the hosts. There are some that will teach you FTP.
It's not that bad.

hey trish do you know if i know ftp? anyways do you think it'd be possible for someone to host me too, or do i need a little bit more work? yeah that really intimidates me too, the "proficient/skilled"... and I know other hosts have different standards, for example the girl who hosted the chick who jocked trish's css probably has different standards that trish herself and i know better than to even apply to be hosted by trish because her standards seem really high.

its not that hard...just apply...and ftp is realy easy...and besides your work is better than mine and i already have a subdomain...

certain places are more elitist than others.. you just have to compare yourself to the other hostees on each domain. ftp is easy.. if u can burn a cd.. then u can learn ftp

my friend got hosted last year from a geocties site...she has like no talent at html or anyhting. she didn't know any of it...but yah...she got hosted =X

um..geocities is free hosting.. you just register and u get it.. we're talking about hosting domains..

geocities just gives you some space...

we're talking about domains owned by people that also offer cgi/php/mysql access

Haha. Well, yeah it probly does. I tend to accept people with "moderate" skills in the area. The people in your family could probly write a thesis on this stuff.

You know, it probly has something with my need to be in control. I choose people who know less than me... so i feel like the leader. Sad, yes. But at least I am honest.

Ill pm tboltzbabe and see if she is interested. You know Trish... me and you probly have a lot in common...
