I find stereotyping really annoying. I know that alot of people do it and sometimes we do it to ourselves lol. Even though some people might think its ok but other people might get offended to it. Not everyone is the same...
What do you think?

You have to realize that as long as we have closed-minded and ignorant people around, we're going to have stereotypes as well.

Thats my point. I just find it annoying. Its like judging someone because of thier individuality, group, race etc. Im black and i don't like it when people say that all black people are theifs and dangerous. Not all of them are like that. Its just prejudice mad.gif

I believe we all judge.
But, it's a matter of looking past it and the willingness to allow the person to prove our assumptions wrong.

What's irritating is that we find so many things rude and annoying in other people, but there are just so many people that we can't stop it all... And even if everyone stopped, after awhile we'd grow back into it again.

grr. i hate stereotyping/prejudice of all sorts. seriously. its the one thing i really, REALLY can't stand in this world. and yes so many people do it, its terrible. i try so, so hard not to, and i haven't for a long time so i'm rather proud of myself. but yeah i hate it when people do that, especially adults saying stuff about teenagers y'know? grr. makes me angry. mad.gif

i fail to see how this is debate. but anyway, everyone does it, so dont be a hypocrite and condemn others for it, because everyone is guilty. while its bad that it gets out of control, its human nature. afterall, steryotypes have to start somewhere...

I believe that if someone gets offended by stereotypes that they are wea. Weak because they let lies which stereotypes get ot them. So if you get offended by stereotypes then you are a weak person. Don't let things get you down specially lies. Stereotypes can be proven worng and by someone getting offended then makes the stereotypes some sort of true.

Ive said all this before in the thread, labels... useless motherfu.... didnt say it meant it.

Anyways. alternativemado is right, if you let others control your life because you have a low self-esteem or have no knowledge of who you are.... you are weak and shouldnt use it as an excuse to hold yourself back. Every discrimination suit and affirmative action keep perpetuating the cycle. If stereo types were untrue of the majority they wouldnt still be in use.

stereotyping sucks. but we're all guilty of it at some moment in time.
whether subconsciously or direct, it happens.

but then again, it's just a matter of others' opinion. as said above, do your own thing, dont let it bug you. they're little specks of dirt compared to the entire world anyway. in the end, whatever box they put you in doesnt really count.

no, not really. if you get carried away with sterotypes, they can turn into predudice, but that doesnt make them the same thing. they are essentially along the same lines, but sterotypes are less severe

my mom stereotypes a lot. it makes me really angry. our neighbor, greg, is one of my friends. he came by our house to ask my mom if it was ok if he had a loud party and some of his friends had a lot of peircings and mohawks and tattoos and stuff and after they left she goes "i didn't know greg hung out with people like that" and i'm like "people like what?" and she goes "bad kids like that." it pissed me off so much. just because they have peircings and such doesn't mean they're bad people. they seemed very nice and considerate, in fact, considering they came to make sure it was ok with their neighbors before they had a party.

If we do not want to be stereotyped like that, take no appearance of that which is evil or an appearance of evil doers in the eyes of the judgemental.
