It's fairly simple actually. Let me break it down to you, ok babe??
Well, the whole "teach us to number our days" symbolizes something different from what "so that we may get a heart of wisdom means" . The first part of the quote is stating that we're not going to be living forever. Our days are numbered and yet we live each day as if we'll be here the next. Eventually that will no longer be the case. Our days are numbered and we need to live each day as though it is our last. Onto the second part of the quote, heart of wisdom is basically the ability to realize our days are number. The ability to realize we need not take each day for granted, but rather make it fulfilling. Live each day passionately, hence the heard, and knowlegably, hence the wisdom

Actually, Elba, your 'bullshit' interpretation of the first part was the same as mine.
Something along the lines of...learning how to cherish each day and making each day matter more by carefully taking better note of them. By 'numbering' them, we heighten the significance of each passing day in our eyes. I don't know about your explanation for the second part though... I believe the second part is just as it is...once we learn to number our days, we will have a greater deal of wisdom in our hearts. I dunno, I'm too sick and lazy to try.  BTW, you guys are just too hilarious.
