the nazi swastica is a symbol of hate. the original symbol which means love peace the sun etc. was erected in early buddhist culture. however, when the actual nazi swastica is used as a symbol, it has been reversed and put at a crooked angle. this is to sort of spit in the real symbol's face. it's sort of mocking the true meaning of the symbol. that's that.

You're completely right, Heathasm. Like you said, the Swastika is a very important symbol to many religions. The only reason it became associated with Nazis is because Adolf Hitler has to be the stupidest man to ever set foot on earth.

He coined the term "Aryan" to mean someone with blonde hair, blue eyes, and of German background. In reality, this word means a person of an Indo-European heritage. As mentioned before, the Swastika was used by Hitler to represent hate, but the symbol is used in some religions.

The sheer cluelessness that Hitler had is truly frightening to me. How he could kill so many people and not know a single good fact is kind of eerie.

People should know about this before they judge people who are Buddist or Hindu. Calling them evil when all they are doing is believing in a religion. People should know that Hitler was just...a DUMBASS.

A man is good, all his life. Always buys girl scout cookies, always helps old women across the street, holds doors open, pays a bigger tip, always has a smile and always spreads kindness.

Then one day, he murders a man, in cold blood.

Is he still good?

Should he not be put in prison?

Of course he should.

Despite the good of the symbol, one horrible event changed the meaning in the eyes of all around the world. The symbol is hardly ever still used, except by idioc anarchist teenagers who say their parents are nazis. When inface, the Nazis werent so bad before Hitler either. But no one will forgive them, and the name will forever strike evil and fear in the hearts of its listeners.

I think that its horrid that people arent educated about the symbol, but I think its more important we educate them about their presidential candidates, than a dead symbol that pretty much cant be changed to mean anything but opression and evil.

huh.gif wouldn't a mirror image be the same thing?

Not exactly, but quite similar.

I think the problem here is that people mistaken a religious swastika for a Nazi swastika. I think they need to learn that no, it's not only a symbol for evil, it could be a symbol of love and peace. Backwards or not.

But for the same reason democrat generals like Wesley Clark and Norman Schwarzkopf followed the orders of Republican President Bush Sr., most of the generals followed Hitler's orders, but Hitler was a control freak and didn't let the generals do their own thing which cost them many battles.

i don't think Clark and Schwarzkopf would have been executed for not following Bush's orders. haha

the swastika will forever be remembered as an evil sign....unless people are educated and realize its importance to some religions

Its not only buddhist.

if you read the whole thing you would know that i know that

its used in buddhaism to represent exactly what is represents...
the nazis used it in a different form..tilted to the side and people get all riled up even when they see it in it's correct form

well, thats cool that it means the sun and power and blah blah blah.. but the truth is, because that once stood for evil, and it is known for evil, its not really excepted anymore.

i mean, i know that the swastika can mean good or whatever, but im jewish, and when i see someone wearing the swastika or drawing it on there hand, i kinda get offended.. even though they may be using it for religious purposes..

just like jo3 said, it will always be remembered as a sign of evil unless people get educated about it.

Hitler flipped the original swastika from india which meant love and peace... so he flipped it the other way and then it meant hatred and destruction... or something along those lines

people shouldn't see a swastika and say OH IT'S WRONG... YOU NAZI.... because you may have drawn the original one from india.

idk.

its kinda like if someone kills another person....the murderer will be hated for a long time...but eventually he might be forgiven of his sins when he turns into a better guy

Yeah well, gay used to mean happy.
And also, I belive that the way it's facing has alot to with the meaning.
Anyway, i will attack anyone wearing a swastika. I'm Jewish and I lost members of my familly to the war. I remember someone once drew one on the whiteboard of my choir class, and my teacher wouldn't do anything about it.

christians have a history of ruining perfectly good pagan symbols.

i mean, come on. pentragram= jesus christ?

devil's pitchfork, etc.

anyways, i have a swastika hanging from my rearview mirror.

it's pretty small, and it's part of a larger buddhist pendant.

it's nice. i like it.

Yeah, it's been said before but the Swastika that the Nazi's used is flipped horizontally and it's diagonal. It is backwards to symbolize just the opposite of good and peace.
Buddism/Hindu:

Nazi:

Get your facts straight next time. thumbsup.gif The Nazi Swastika and the regular Swastika are two completely different symbols. _smile.gif

Sadly, most people are ignorant to the fact and when they see any kind of Swastika they automatically think "Nazi" and "Hate." _dry.gif
